فيما لم يظهر نجله وخليفته مجتبى منذ تعرضه لتشوهات جراء هجوم فبراير الماضي، الذي أودى بحياة والده، وصل جثمان المرشد الإيراني السابق علي خامنئي لمدينة مشهد، بشمال شرق إيران اليوم (الخميس)، تمهيداً لدفنه.
ويأتي الدفن بعد أسبوع من مراسم تشييع حاشدة وتجمعات شعبية ومشاهد حداد، تزامنت مع تجدد المواجهة مع الولايات المتحدة عقب أسابيع من وقف إطلاق النار.
وشهدت شوارع مشهد اليوم، حشوداً من المشيعين، فيما ظهر قائد فيلق القدس التابع للحرس الثوري الإيراني إسماعيل قاآني في مطار مشهد خلال استقبال جثمان خامنئي، عائداً من العراق، تمهيداً لدفنه.
ونشرت وكالات إيرانية صوراً لقاآني خلال نزول الجثمان من الطائرة. وخلال نُقل جثمان خامنئي بين مدن في إيران والعراق، دعا رجال الدين وقادة إيران أنصارهم للمشاركة بكثافة في مراسم التشييع.
ولم يظهر مجتبى خامنئي علنا منذ اندلاع الحرب بعد الهجوم الذي أسفر عن مقتل والده في 28 فبراير، رغم صدور بيانات مكتوبة باسمه.
وقالت مصادر كبيرة في طهران إنه يتعافى من إصاباته، لكنه لم يستعد عافيته بالقدر الذي يسمح له بالظهور العلني، فيما تسعى الأجهزة الأمنية أيضا إلى الحد من ظهوره تحسبا لأي هجمات أمريكية جديدة، بحسب وسائل إعلام غربية.
وأقيمت مراسم تشييع لخامنئي، وأربعة من أفراد عائلته الذين قتلوا معه، في طهران ومدينة قم، مركز المرجعية الدينية الشيعية في إيران، ومدينتي النجف وكربلاء العراقيتين.
وبمواراته الثرى اليوم، يُسدل الستار على حكم خامنئي الذي استمر نحو أربعة عقود، وبعد أشهر من أحدث جولات الاحتجاجات الحاشدة على مستوى البلاد ضد النظام الحاكم الذي يقوده رجال الدين.
While his son and successor Mojtaba has not appeared since he suffered injuries from the attack last February that claimed his father's life, the body of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei arrived in Mashhad, northeastern Iran today (Thursday), in preparation for his burial.
The burial comes a week after massive funeral ceremonies and public gatherings, coinciding with renewed confrontations with the United States following weeks of a ceasefire.
The streets of Mashhad today witnessed crowds of mourners, while the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Esmail Qaani, appeared at Mashhad Airport during the reception of Khamenei's body, returning from Iraq, in preparation for burial.
Iranian agencies published photos of Qaani as the body was taken off the plane. During the transfer of Khamenei's body between cities in Iran and Iraq, religious leaders and Iranian officials called on their supporters to participate en masse in the funeral ceremonies.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the outbreak of the war following the attack that resulted in his father's death on February 28, despite statements being issued in his name.
Senior sources in Tehran stated that he is recovering from his injuries, but has not regained enough health to appear publicly, while security agencies are also trying to limit his appearances in anticipation of any new American attacks, according to Western media.
Funeral ceremonies were held for Khamenei and four of his family members who were killed with him in Tehran and the city of Qom, the center of Shia religious authority in Iran, as well as in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala.
With his burial today, the curtain falls on Khamenei's rule, which lasted nearly four decades, following months of the latest rounds of massive nationwide protests against the ruling regime led by clerics.
