في تطور سياسي جديد يضع حكومة الأرجنتين تحت ضغوط متزايدة، أعلن رئيس ديوان الرئيس الأرجنتيني خافيير ميلي، مانويل أدورني، استقالته من منصبه، على خلفية أزمة سياسية ومالية أثارت تحقيقات حول حجم إنفاقه وثروته خلال السنوات الأخيرة.
وجاءت الاستقالة بعد أسابيع من الجدل والاتهامات المتعلقة بوجود تفاوت بين نفقات أدورني ومصادر دخله المعلنة، ما فتح الباب أمام تحقيقات بشأن شبهة الإثراء غير المشروع.
رسالة استقالة تحمل رسائل سياسية
ونشر أدورني خطاب استقالته عبر منصة «إكس»، موجّهاً حديثه إلى الرئيس خافيير ميلي، الذي يُعد من أقرب الشخصيات السياسية إليه.
وقال في رسالته: «للمرة الأولى منذ 10 ديسمبر 2023، أخالف رغبتك»، مضيفاً: «أغلق هذه المرحلة وأغادر بهدوء وطمأنينة، وفوق كل شيء بضمير مرتاح».
وكان أدورني قد تولى منصب رئيس ديوان الرئاسة في نوفمبر الماضي، بعد أن شغل سابقاً منصب المتحدث باسم الحكومة عقب وصول ميلي إلى السلطة أواخر عام 2023.
اتهامات بالإثراء غير المشروع ورحلات مثيرة للجدل
وتواجه المسؤول المستقيل اتهامات تتعلق بالإثراء غير المشروع، بعدما أثارت بعض نفقاته الشخصية تساؤلات بشأن مدى توافقها مع دخله الرسمي.
وتعرض لانتقادات بسبب عدد من الرحلات العائلية، من بينها رحلة سياحية على الدرجة الأولى إلى جزيرة أوروبا خلال عطلة عيد الميلاد، إلى جانب رحلة بطائرة خاصة إلى أوروغواي خلال موسم الكرنفال.
لكن أدورني نفى ارتكاب أي مخالفة قانونية، مؤكداً أن ثروته تكوّنت قبل دخوله العمل الحكومي، وأن جميع الرحلات جرى تمويلها من أمواله الخاصة.
وخلال جلسة أمام الكونغرس في أبريل الماضي، قال: «لم أرتكب أي جريمة، وسأثبت ذلك أمام القضاء».
اعتراف بإخفاء أموال وتعديل الإقرارات المالية
ورغم نفيه الاتهامات، أقرّ أدورني خلال مقابلة صحفية هذا الشهر بأنه احتفظ لسنوات بأموال غير مُعلن عنها، واصفاً الأمر بأنه ممارسة شائعة بين الأرجنتينيين.
وأوضح أنه قام بتعديل إقراراته المالية الخاصة بعامي 2023 و2024، لتشمل نحو نصف مليون دولار لم تكن مُدرجة سابقاً، وقال: «أعترف بخطأ غير مقصود استمر معي، وسأدفع كل ما يترتب عليه».
ضغوط متزايدة على حكومة ميلي
وكان الرئيس الأرجنتيني خافيير ميلي قد دافع سابقاً عن أدورني، مؤكداً في تصريحات سابقة أنه لا ينوي التخلي عنه، وقال: «لن أعاقب شخصاً بريئاً».
إلا أن الاستقالة تأتي في توقيت حساس تواجه فيه الحكومة الأرجنتينية انتقادات متزايدة بسبب مزاعم فساد داخل بعض دوائرها، إلى جانب تراجع القوة الشرائية للمواطنين نتيجة استمرار الضغوط التضخمية.
وبحسب استطلاع رأي أجرته مؤسسة «أوبينا أرجنتينا» خلال مايو الماضي، بلغت نسبة الصورة الإيجابية للرئيس ميلي 39%، مقارنة بمعدل تأييد تجاوز 53% قبل أكثر من عام، في مؤشر على تراجع شعبيته خلال الفترة الأخيرة.
In a new political development that puts the Argentine government under increasing pressure, the Chief of Staff to Argentine President Javier Milei, Manuel Adorni, announced his resignation from his position amid a political and financial crisis that has raised investigations into the extent of his spending and wealth over recent years.
The resignation came after weeks of controversy and accusations regarding a disparity between Adorni's expenses and his declared sources of income, opening the door for investigations into suspected illicit enrichment.
A resignation letter with political messages
Adorni published his resignation letter via the platform "X," addressing President Javier Milei, who is considered one of his closest political figures.
In his message, he said: "For the first time since December 10, 2023, I go against your wishes," adding: "I close this chapter and leave quietly and peacefully, and above all, with a clear conscience."
Adorni had taken the position of Chief of Staff in November last year, after previously serving as the government spokesperson following Milei's rise to power in late 2023.
Accusations of illicit enrichment and controversial trips
The resigning official faces accusations related to illicit enrichment, after some of his personal expenses raised questions about their alignment with his official income.
He has been criticized for several family trips, including a first-class vacation trip to Europe during the Christmas holiday, as well as a private jet trip to Uruguay during the carnival season.
However, Adorni denied committing any legal violations, asserting that his wealth was accumulated before entering government work, and that all trips were funded from his personal funds.
During a session before Congress last April, he stated: "I have not committed any crime, and I will prove that in court."
Admission of concealing funds and amending financial declarations
Despite denying the accusations, Adorni admitted during a press interview this month that he had kept undisclosed funds for years, describing the practice as common among Argentinians.
He explained that he amended his financial declarations for 2023 and 2024 to include about half a million dollars that had not been previously listed, saying: "I acknowledge an unintentional mistake that has persisted with me, and I will pay for everything that results from it."
Increasing pressure on Milei's government
Argentine President Javier Milei had previously defended Adorni, stating in earlier remarks that he did not intend to abandon him, saying: "I will not punish an innocent person."
However, the resignation comes at a sensitive time when the Argentine government faces increasing criticism due to allegations of corruption within some of its circles, alongside a decline in citizens' purchasing power due to ongoing inflationary pressures.
According to a poll conducted by the "Opina Argentina" organization last May, the positive image rating for President Milei stood at 39%, compared to a support rate exceeding 53% over a year ago, indicating a decline in his popularity in recent times.
