أعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية، اليوم (الأربعاء)، مقتل القيادي في تنظيم داعش الإرهابي علي حسين العليوي، مؤكدة أن قواتها قضت عليه في 19 يونيو الجاري بضربة جوية دقيقة في شمال غربي سورية.
وأوضحت القيادة، في بيان، أن الضربة جاءت في إطار الجهود الأمريكية المستمرة لتعطيل أنشطة الإرهابيين والقضاء عليهم، ممن يسعون إلى تنفيذ هجمات ضد الأمريكيين في الخارج أو داخل الولايات المتحدة، وبيّنت أن قوات القيادة المركزية تواصل العمل إلى جانب شركائها الإقليميين.
وقال قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية الأدميرال براد كوبر: «تظل القيادة المركزية وشركاؤها ملتزمين باجتثاث ما تبقى من فلول تنظيم داعش لضمان هزيمته المستدامة»، وأضاف: «سنواصل الدفاع عن أراضي الولايات المتحدة، وأفراد قواتنا، وحلفائنا وشركائنا في مختلف أنحاء المنطقة».
وتواصل القوات الأمريكية عملياتها ضد داعش، إذ نفّذت في فبراير الماضي 10 غارات استهدفت أكثر من 30 هدفاً للتنظيم في سورية، لمواصلة الضغط على بقايا الشبكة الإرهابية.
وجاءت تلك الضربات في الوقت الذي أعلنت فيه الولايات المتحدة أن قواتها غادرت قاعدة التنف العسكرية الإستراتيجية في سورية بعد أكثر من عقد من الزمن، وذلك في إطار انتقال مدروس ومشروط نحو تقليص الوجود الأمريكي في البلاد. وتشكل العمليات الأمريكية ضد تنظيم داعش جزءاً من إستراتيجية مستمرة تستهدف منع التنظيم من إعادة بناء قدراته وشن هجمات جديدة في المنطقة وخارجها.
وتنفذ القوات الأمريكية، بالتعاون مع شركائها المحليين والإقليميين، عمليات استخباراتية وعسكرية تستهدف قيادات التنظيم وعناصره، بهدف تقويض قدراته العملياتية.
The U.S. Central Command announced today (Wednesday) the death of ISIS leader Ali Hussein Al-Alwi, confirming that its forces eliminated him on June 19 in a precise airstrike in northwestern Syria.
The command explained in a statement that the strike was part of ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt and eliminate the activities of terrorists who seek to carry out attacks against Americans abroad or within the United States, and it indicated that Central Command forces continue to work alongside their regional partners.
U.S. Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated, "Central Command and its partners remain committed to eradicating what remains of ISIS remnants to ensure its lasting defeat," adding, "We will continue to defend the territory of the United States, our forces, and our allies and partners throughout the region."
U.S. forces continue their operations against ISIS, having conducted 10 airstrikes in February targeting more than 30 of the organization's sites in Syria, to maintain pressure on the remnants of the terrorist network.
These strikes came at a time when the United States announced that its forces had left the strategic Tanf military base in Syria after more than a decade, as part of a measured and conditional transition towards reducing the U.S. presence in the country. U.S. operations against ISIS are part of an ongoing strategy aimed at preventing the organization from rebuilding its capabilities and launching new attacks in the region and beyond.
U.S. forces, in cooperation with their local and regional partners, are conducting intelligence and military operations targeting the organization's leaders and members, with the aim of undermining its operational capabilities.
