أنذر الجيش الإسرائيلي، اليوم (الخميس)، سكان ثماني بلدات وقرى في منطقتي سهل البقاع وجنوب لبنان، مطالبهم بسرعة الإخلاء قبل ضربات محتملة.
وشنّ الطيران الإسرائيلي، غارة على بلدة كفرا في قضاء بنت جبيل، كما استهدف بلدتا مجدل سلم والصوانة في قضاء مرجعيون بغارتين بالتزامن مع قصف مدفعي طال بلدات (برعشيت، فرون، الغندورية وشقرا قضاء بنت جبيل).
ميدانياً، قال مسؤول في الخارجية الأمريكية، إن جولة المحادثات الجديدة بين لبنان وإسرائيل المقرر عقدها ستنطق اليوم (الخميس) الساعة التاسعة صباحاً بتوقيت واشنطن وتستمر حتى الخامسة والنصف مساء من اليوم نفسه، على أن تستأنف يوم الجمعة، موضحاً أن الملفين السياسي والأمني سيكونان حاضرين في المحادثات.
وستمثل لبنان السفيرة لدى واشنطن ندى حمادة معوض، كما في الجولتين السابقتين، بالإضافة إلى السفير السابق والمبعوث الخاص سيمون كرم، بينما يمثل الجانب الإسرائيلي سفيرها في واشنطن يحيئيل ليتر ونائب مستشار الأمن القومي يوسي درازنين، وسيحضر المحادثات المستشار بالخارجية مارك نيدام، والسفير الأمريكي في لبنان ميشال عيسى والسفير الأمريكي في إسرائيل مايك هاكابي.
ونقلت وسائل إعلام عربية عن مصادر قولها إن إسرائيل ستبلغ الوفد اللبناني أنها لن تلتزم بوقف شامل لإطلاق النار، وأن حكومتها تلتزم باستراتيجية واضحة وهي إستراتيجية القضاء على الخطر ومنع أي تهديد لأمنها أو أمن سكان الشمال.
The Israeli army warned today (Thursday) the residents of eight towns and villages in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon, demanding their swift evacuation before potential strikes.
Israeli aircraft launched an airstrike on the town of Kafra in the Bent Jbeil district, and also targeted the towns of Majdel Selim and Al-Sawana in the Marjayoun district with two airstrikes, coinciding with artillery shelling that hit the towns of (Barashit, Frun, Al-Ghandouriya, and Shuqra in the Bent Jbeil district).
On the ground, a U.S. State Department official stated that the new round of talks between Lebanon and Israel is scheduled to take place today (Thursday) at 9 AM Washington time and will continue until 5:30 PM the same day, with a resumption on Friday, clarifying that both the political and security files will be present in the discussions.
Lebanon will be represented by its ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, as in the previous two rounds, along with former ambassador and special envoy Simon Karam, while the Israeli side will be represented by its ambassador in Washington, Yahiya Eltr, and Deputy National Security Advisor Yossi Draznin. The talks will also include State Department advisor Mark Niederm, the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, and the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee.
Arab media outlets reported that sources indicated Israel would inform the Lebanese delegation that it would not commit to a comprehensive ceasefire, and that its government adheres to a clear strategy, which is the strategy of eliminating threats and preventing any danger to its security or the security of the northern residents.
