كشفت وسائل إعلام أمريكية، اليوم (الخميس)، عن فقدان الولايات المتحدة واحدة من أغلى طائراتها المسيّرة خلال الأسبوع الماضي، أثناء تحليقها فوق الخليج العربي بالقرب من مضيق هرمز، في حادثة يكتنفها الغموض.
وأفادت شبكة «سي إن إن» الأمريكية، نقلاً عن تقرير صادر عن قيادة السلامة البحرية الأمريكية نُشر الثلاثاء، بأن طائرة مسيّرة من طراز MQ-4C Triton تحطمت في 9 أبريل الجاري، دون تحديد موقع الحادثة، لأسباب تتعلق بأمن العمليات.
اختفاء مفاجئ بعد إقلاع من إيطاليا
وأظهرت بيانات موقع تتبع الرحلات الجوية «FlightRadar24» أن الطائرة أقلعت من قاعدة «سيغونيلا» الجوية البحرية في إيطاليا، قبل أن تختفي فوق مياه الخليج العربي في اليوم ذاته.
وبحسب البيانات، كانت الطائرة تحلق فوق مضيق هرمز، لكنها عقب مغادرتها أجواء المضيق بدأت بالهبوط بشكل مفاجئ من ارتفاع 50 ألف قدم إلى نحو 9 آلاف قدم، قبل أن يُفقد الاتصال بها.
رموز استغاثة تكشف لحظات الخطر
وأوضحت بيانات الرحلة أن الطائرة أرسلت الرمز 7400، الذي يشير إلى فقدان الاتصال بمركز التحكم الأرضي، قبل أن تُطلق لاحقاً الرمز 7700، الدال على حالة طوارئ، وذلك بعد نحو 70 دقيقة من بدء الهبوط.
واستمرت الطائرة في بث رمز الطوارئ حتى الساعة 10:12 صباحاً، قبل أن تختفي من على شاشات الرادار على ارتفاع نحو 9250 قدماً.
غموض حول الأسباب
وأكد التقرير أن بيانات التتبع لا تسمح بتحديد سبب فقدان الطائرة، فيما اكتفت البحرية الأمريكية بالإعلان عن تحطم طائرة من هذا الطراز دون تقديم تفاصيل إضافية.
واحدة من الأندر والأغلى
وتُعد طائرة MQ-4C Triton من أبرز الأصول الاستخباراتية لدى البحرية الأمريكية، حيث نشرت واشنطن سرباً منها في جزيرة صقلية لتعزيز قدراتها في أوروبا وإفريقيا والشرق الأوسط.
وتصف شركة «نورثروب غرومان»، المصنعة للطائرة، هذا الطراز بأنه من الأكثر تقدماً عالمياً في مهام الاستخبارات والمراقبة والاستطلاع، إذ يعمل بمحرك نفاث، ويصل مداه إلى نحو 8500 ميل، مع قدرة على التحليق لأكثر من 24 ساعة متواصلة.
كما تُعد هذه المسيّرة من أندر الطائرات في الأسطول الأمريكي، حيث لم يُصنّع منها سوى 20 وحدة فقط، وتصل تكلفة الواحدة إلى نحو 240 مليون دولار، ما يجعلها من بين الأعلى سعراً، إذ تتجاوز تكلفة الطائرة الواحدة ضعف سعر مقاتلة F-35C الشبحية.
American media revealed today (Thursday) that the United States lost one of its most expensive drones last week while flying over the Arabian Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz, in an incident shrouded in mystery.
According to a report from the U.S. Naval Safety Command published on Tuesday, the MQ-4C Triton drone crashed on April 9, without specifying the location of the incident for operational security reasons.
Sudden disappearance after takeoff from Italy
Flight tracking data from “FlightRadar24” showed that the drone took off from the Naval Air Station Sigonella in Italy before disappearing over the waters of the Arabian Gulf on the same day.
According to the data, the drone was flying over the Strait of Hormuz, but after leaving the airspace of the strait, it suddenly descended from an altitude of 50,000 feet to about 9,000 feet before contact was lost.
Distress signals reveal moments of danger
Flight data indicated that the drone transmitted the code 7400, which indicates a loss of contact with the ground control center, before later transmitting the code 7700, indicating an emergency, about 70 minutes after the descent began.
The drone continued to broadcast the emergency code until 10:12 AM, before disappearing from radar screens at an altitude of about 9,250 feet.
Mystery surrounding the causes
The report confirmed that tracking data does not allow for determining the cause of the drone's loss, while the U.S. Navy only announced the crash of a drone of this type without providing additional details.
One of the rarest and most expensive
The MQ-4C Triton drone is considered one of the most significant intelligence assets of the U.S. Navy, as Washington has deployed a squadron of them in Sicily to enhance its capabilities in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Northrop Grumman, the manufacturer of the drone, describes this model as one of the most advanced globally for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, as it operates with a jet engine and has a range of about 8,500 miles, with the ability to fly for more than 24 continuous hours.
This drone is also one of the rarest aircraft in the U.S. fleet, with only 20 units manufactured, and the cost of each is about $240 million, making it one of the highest-priced drones, as the cost of one exceeds double that of the F-35C stealth fighter.
