أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، أمس (الثلاثاء)، أن أسطولاً أمريكياً جديداً يتجه حالياً نحو إيران، معرباً عن أمله في أن تفضي هذه الخطوة إلى التوصل لاتفاق بين واشنطن وطهران. وقال ترمب في خطاب له: «هناك أسطول رائع آخر يتجه الآن نحو إيران، وآمل أن يتوصلوا إلى اتفاق».
خطاب من أيوا يركّز على الاقتصاد والطاقة
ويأتي تصريح ترمب خلال وجوده في ولاية أيوا، ضمن جولة تشمل عدداً من الولايات الأمريكية، تسبق انتخابات التجديد النصفي لمجلس النواب، حيث ركّز خطابه على ملفات الطاقة والاقتصاد.
تحذير مع فتح باب التفاوض
وكان ترمب قد قال، في مقابلة أجراها الإثنين مع موقع «أكسيوس»، إن الوضع مع إيران «متقلب»، مشيراً إلى أنه أرسل أسطولاً بحرياً ضخماً إلى المنطقة، لكنه في الوقت ذاته يعتقد أن طهران تسعى فعلياً إلى إبرام صفقة مع واشنطن.
تفوق بحري وخيارات أمنية
وأضاف ترمب: «لدينا أسطول بحري ضخم قرب إيران، يفوق الأسطول الموجود قرب فنزويلا»، رافضاً الخوض في تفاصيل الخيارات التي عرضها عليه فريق الأمن القومي أو تحديد ما يفضله منها.
الدبلوماسية ما زالت على الطاولة
ورغم التصعيد العسكري، شدد الرئيس الأمريكي على أن المسار الدبلوماسي لا يزال قائماً، قائلاً: «إنهم يريدون إبرام صفقة. أعلم ذلك. لقد اتصلوا بي في مناسبات عديدة.. إنهم يريدون التحدث».

Speech from Iowa Focused on Economy and Energy
Trump's statement came during his visit to Iowa, as part of a tour that includes several U.S. states ahead of the midterm elections for the House of Representatives, where his speech focused on energy and economic issues.
Warning with Opening of Negotiations
Trump had said in an interview on Monday with Axios that the situation with Iran is "volatile," noting that he has sent a massive naval fleet to the region, but at the same time believes that Tehran is actually seeking to strike a deal with Washington.
Naval Superiority and Security Options
Trump added: "We have a massive naval fleet near Iran, which surpasses the fleet near Venezuela," refusing to delve into the details of the options presented to him by the national security team or specify which he prefers.
Diplomacy is Still on the Table
Despite the military escalation, the U.S. president emphasized that the diplomatic path is still open, stating: "They want to make a deal. I know that. They have contacted me on many occasions... They want to talk."
