بالتعاون مع السلطات السعودية، أحبطت شرطة عُمان السلطانية عصابة دولية للاتجار بالمخدرات والمؤثرات العقلية، إذ ضُبط بحوزتها أكثر من 200 كيلوغرام من المواد المخدرة.
وجاء ذلك وفقاً لمعلومة وردت من المديرية العامة لمكافحة المخدرات بالمملكة، بوجود شبكة تهريب دولية متعددة الجنسيات من 3 قارات، وضُبطت المواد المخدرة مصهورة داخل خزان إضافي بسيارة مُعدة لذلك.
وباعتراف أحد العناصر المُنشقة عن الشبكة، ضبطت شقة في إحدى الولايات بسلطنة عمان، وبها أعضاء إضافيون منهم امرأة آسيوية ضمن الشبكة، وقدّرت قيمة المضبوطات بـ500 ألف ريال عُماني.
وتأتي هذه العملية ضمن الجهود المشتركة لتعزيز التنسيق الأمني الإقليمي، والتصدي للعصابات الدولية التي تستغل طرق التهريب البرية والبحرية لتمرير المواد المحظورة.
In cooperation with the Saudi authorities, the Royal Oman Police thwarted an international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances gang, seizing over 200 kilograms of narcotic materials in their possession.
This came following information received from the General Directorate for Drug Control in the Kingdom, regarding the existence of a multinational smuggling network spanning three continents. The narcotic materials were found melted inside an additional tank in a vehicle prepared for that purpose.
With the confession of one of the defectors from the network, an apartment was raided in one of the states in the Sultanate of Oman, where additional members were found, including an Asian woman who was part of the network. The value of the seized items was estimated at 500,000 Omani rials.
This operation is part of the joint efforts to enhance regional security coordination and combat international gangs that exploit land and maritime smuggling routes to pass prohibited materials.
