أعلن رئيس مجلس الوزراء اللبناني نواف سلام، اليوم (السبت)، جاهزية الدولة للانتقال إلى المرحلة الثانية، مؤكداً أن خطة حصر السلاح في جنوب الليطاني باتت على بُعد أيام من الانتهاء، وذلك بموجب اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار المبرم مع إسرائيل.
وقال سلام، خلال لقائه رئيس الوفد المفاوض في لجنة الميكانيزم السفير سيمون كرم، إن المرحلة الأولى من خطة حصر السلاح المتعلقة بجنوب نهر الليطاني باتت على بُعد أيام من الانتهاء، وإن الدولة جاهزة للانتقال إلى المرحلة الثانية، أي إلى شمال نهر الليطاني، استناداً إلى الخطة التي أعدّها الجيش اللبناني بناءً على تكليف من الحكومة، مؤكداً ضرورة توفير كل الدعم اللازم للجيش اللبناني لتمكينه من الاضطلاع الكامل بمسؤولياته الوطنية.
وعقد أعضاء اللجنة التقنية العسكرية للبنان (الميكانيزم) اجتماعهم الـ15 في الناقورة، أمس، ووفقاً للسفارة الأمريكية في لبنان، فإن المشاركين العسكريين أجمعوا على أن تعزيز قدرات الجيش اللبناني، الضامن للأمن في قطاع جنوب الليطاني، أمر أساسي للنجاح.
من جهة أخرى، ذكر مكتب رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو إن اجتماع اللجنة يعد استمراراً للحوار الأمني الهادف إلى ضمان نزع سلاح حزب الله على يد الجيش اللبناني.
The Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, announced today (Saturday) the state's readiness to move to the second phase, confirming that the plan to control weapons in the south of the Litani River is just days away from completion, based on the ceasefire agreement made with Israel.
Salam stated, during his meeting with the head of the negotiating delegation in the mechanism committee, Ambassador Simon Karam, that the first phase of the weapons control plan related to the south of the Litani River is just days away from completion, and that the state is ready to transition to the second phase, which is to the north of the Litani River, based on the plan prepared by the Lebanese army at the government's request, emphasizing the necessity of providing all necessary support to the Lebanese army to enable it to fully assume its national responsibilities.
The members of the Lebanese military technical committee (the mechanism) held their 15th meeting in Naqoura yesterday, and according to the U.S. embassy in Lebanon, the military participants unanimously agreed that enhancing the capabilities of the Lebanese army, which guarantees security in the southern Litani sector, is essential for success.
On another note, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned that the committee meeting is a continuation of the security dialogue aimed at ensuring the disarmament of Hezbollah by the Lebanese army.
