أدان الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش بشدة الاحتجاز التعسفي الذي قامت به جماعة الحوثي - 18 ديسمبر - بحق 10 موظفين إضافيين من موظفي الأمم المتحدة، ليرتفع بذلك إجمالي عدد موظفي الأمم المتحدة المحتجزين إلى 69 موظفاً.
وقال المتحدث باسم الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة ستيفان دوجاريك في بيان إن هذه الاحتجازات تؤدي إلى جعل إمكانية إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية التابعة للأمم المتحدة في المناطق الخاضعة لسيطرة الحوثيين غير قابلة للاستمرار، ما يؤثر بشكل مباشر على ملايين الأشخاص المحتاجين ويحدّ من حصولهم على المساعدات المنقذة للحياة.
وأضاف أن الأمين العام دعا إلى الإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عن جميع الأفراد المحتجزين تعسفياً من موظفي الأمم المتحدة، والمنظمات غير الحكومية، ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، والبعثات الدبلوماسية، كما دعا الحوثيين إلى إلغاء إحالة موظفي الأمم المتحدة للملاحقة القضائية، وأكد ضرورة احترام القانون الدولي، بما في ذلك امتيازات وحصانات الأمم المتحدة وموظفيها، التي تُعدّ أساسية لتمكين العمل الإنساني في بيئة آمنة وملتزمة بالمبادئ.
The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the arbitrary detention carried out by the Houthi group on December 18 of 10 additional United Nations staff members, raising the total number of detained UN staff to 69.
UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated in a statement that these detentions make it impossible to sustain the delivery of UN humanitarian aid in areas controlled by the Houthis, directly affecting millions of people in need and limiting their access to life-saving assistance.
He added that the Secretary-General called for the immediate and unconditional release of all individuals arbitrarily detained from UN staff, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, and diplomatic missions. He also urged the Houthis to withdraw the referral of UN staff for prosecution and emphasized the necessity of respecting international law, including the privileges and immunities of the UN and its personnel, which are essential for enabling humanitarian work in a safe and principled environment.
