توفي الوزير السوري السابق والوجه البارز في الثقافة والإعلام رياض نعسان آغا عن عمر ناهز 77 عاماً، في دولة الإمارات حيث كان يقيم خلال السنوات الأخيرة، مخلفاً إرثاً ثقافياً وسياسياً امتد لعقود.
ولد نعسان آغا في إدلب عام 1947، ودرس الأدب العربي والفلسفة والإعلام في جامعة دمشق، قبل أن يترك بصمة واضحة في التلفزيون السوري خلال السبعينات والثمانينات، من خلال إدارة البرامج والإنتاج الدرامي، وصياغة محتوى ثقافي أثر في الجمهور.
ولم يقتصر حضوره على الإعلام، بل شق طريقه إلى السياسة، فشغل عضوية مجلس الشعب، وأدار مكتب الشؤون السياسية في رئاسة الجمهورية، قبل أن يمثل بلاده دبلوماسياً في سلطنة عُمان والإمارات. وفي عام 2006، تقلد حقيبة وزارة الثقافة، حيث ركّز على دعم الفعاليات الثقافية وتعزيز حضور سورية في المحافل العربية والدولية، مع خطاب واضح وحضور إعلامي قوي جعل منه أحد أبرز الوجوه الثقافية في سورية آنذاك.
إلى جانب المناصب الرسمية، ترك نعسان آغا كتباً ومقالات تناولت الثقافة والإعلام والسياسة، وشارك في مؤتمرات فكرية داخل وخارج سورية، مبرزاً مواقف صريحة أحياناً جعلت منه شخصية جدلية وحاضرة في النقاش العام.
وبرحيله تفقد الساحة الثقافية والسياسية السورية شخصية جمعت بين الأدب والسياسة والإعلام والدبلوماسية، تاركاً إرثاً متعدد الأوجه سيظل محور نقاش وتقييم في الذاكرة الثقافية السورية.
The former Syrian minister and prominent figure in culture and media, Riyad Nasan Agha, passed away at the age of 77 in the United Arab Emirates, where he had been residing in recent years, leaving behind a cultural and political legacy that spanned decades.
Nasan Agha was born in Idlib in 1947 and studied Arabic literature, philosophy, and media at the University of Damascus, before leaving a clear mark on Syrian television during the 1970s and 1980s through his management of programs and dramatic production, and crafting cultural content that resonated with the audience.
His presence was not limited to media; he also made his way into politics, serving as a member of the People's Assembly and managing the Political Affairs Office in the Presidency, before representing his country diplomatically in Oman and the UAE. In 2006, he took on the role of Minister of Culture, where he focused on supporting cultural events and enhancing Syria's presence in Arab and international forums, with a clear discourse and strong media presence that made him one of the most prominent cultural figures in Syria at that time.
In addition to his official positions, Nasan Agha left behind books and articles that addressed culture, media, and politics, and participated in intellectual conferences inside and outside Syria, highlighting candid positions at times that made him a controversial figure present in public discourse.
With his passing, the Syrian cultural and political scene loses a personality that bridged literature, politics, media, and diplomacy, leaving behind a multifaceted legacy that will remain a focal point of discussion and evaluation in the Syrian cultural memory.
