تحطمت طائرتان تابعتان للبحرية الأمريكية في بحر الصين الجنوبي خلال حادثتين منفصلتين، أثناء تنفيذ مهمات تدريبية ضمن عمليات حاملة الطائرات «يو إس إس نيميتز» (CVN-68)، إحدى أضخم حاملات الطائرات في الأسطول الأمريكي.
ونقلت وسائل إعلام غربية عن مصادر عسكرية أمريكية، قولها: إن الحادثة الأولى وقعت عندما تحطمت مقاتلة من طراز F/A-18E/F «سوبر هورنت» أثناء مناورات روتينية على سطح البحر.
وأضافت أنه بعد ساعات، سقطت مروحية من طراز MH-60 «سي هوك» كانت تعمل مع جناح الطيران السابع عشر (CVW-17) التابع للحاملة نفسها، في حادثة منفصلة لم تُكشف أسبابها بعد.
وأعلنت البحرية الأمريكية أن جميع الطيارين وأفراد الطاقم في كلتا الحادثتين تم إنقاذهم بنجاح بواسطة فرق البحث والإنقاذ التابعة للأسطول، ولم تُسجَّل أي خسائر بشرية.
وتم فتح تحقيق فوري لمعرفة ملابسات الحادثتين وأسبابهما المحتملة، سواء كانت فنية أو ناجمة عن الظروف الجوية في المنطقة التي تشهد نشاطاً عسكرياً مكثفاً.
ويُعدّ بحر الصين الجنوبي إحدى أكثر المناطق حساسية في العالم، إذ تتنافس فيه دول عدة، من بينها الصين والولايات المتحدة، على النفوذ والسيطرة البحرية.
وتأتي هذه الحوادث في وقت تشهد فيه المنطقة تصاعداً في التوترات العسكرية بين واشنطن وبكين، مع تزايد الدوريات الأمريكية قرب الجزر المتنازع عليها، ما يجعل أي حادثة طيران في هذه المنطقة موضع متابعة دقيقة من قبل المراقبين الدوليين.
Two aircraft belonging to the U.S. Navy crashed in the South China Sea during two separate incidents while conducting training missions as part of the operations of the aircraft carrier "USS Nimitz" (CVN-68), one of the largest aircraft carriers in the U.S. fleet.
Western media reported, citing U.S. military sources, that the first incident occurred when a F/A-18E/F "Super Hornet" fighter jet crashed during routine maneuvers over the sea.
It was added that hours later, an MH-60 "Sea Hawk" helicopter operating with the 17th Carrier Air Wing (CVW-17) of the same carrier crashed in a separate incident, the causes of which have not yet been revealed.
The U.S. Navy announced that all pilots and crew members in both incidents were successfully rescued by the fleet's search and rescue teams, and no casualties were reported.
An immediate investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances and potential causes of the incidents, whether technical or due to weather conditions in the area, which is experiencing intense military activity.
The South China Sea is considered one of the most sensitive regions in the world, as several countries, including China and the United States, compete for influence and maritime control.
These incidents come at a time when the region is witnessing rising military tensions between Washington and Beijing, with increased U.S. patrols near the disputed islands, making any aviation incident in this area closely monitored by international observers.
