فيما يجتمع وفدان من البلدين لنزع فتيل التوتر بينهما، أعلن الجيش الباكستاني اليوم (الأحد) مقتل 5 جنود باكستانيين و25 مسلحاً في اشتباكات قرب الحدود مع أفغانستان.
وقال المكتب الإعلامي للجيش الباكستاني إن المسلحين حاولوا العبور من أفغانستان خلال الـ48 ساعة الماضية في منطقتي كرم ووزيرستان الشمالية، وهما منطقتان وعرتان على الحدود الشمالية الغربية لباكستان، موضحاً أن توقيت محاولات التسلل هذه يثير الشكوك حول نيات الحكومة الأفغانية المؤقتة في ما يتعلق بالتعامل مع التهديدات المنطلقة من أراضيها.
أعمال عدائية
ودعا الجيش الباكستاني الحكومة الأفغانية إلى الوفاء بالتزاماتها ومنع استخدام أراضيها في أعمال عدائية ضد باكستان. ولم تعلّق حكومة طالبان ولا وزارة الدفاع حتى الآن على هذه التصريحات.
وتنفي «طالبان» الاتهامات بإيواء مسلحين وتقول إن العمليات العسكرية الباكستانية تنتهك السيادة الأفغانية.
ويجتمع مسؤولون من البلدين في إسطنبول لمنع تجدد الصراع بعد الاشتباكات التي وقعت بين جيشيهما هذا الشهر، وهو أعنف قتال على الحدود منذ سيطرة «طالبان» على كابل في عام 2021.
تحذيرات باكستانية
واندلع القتال بعد أن طالبت باكستان حركة طالبان بكبح جماح المسلحين الذين تقول إنهم يعملون من ملاذات آمنة داخل أفغانستان، ما أدى إلى تبادل كثيف لإطلاق النار وشن باكستان غارات جوية.
وكان وزير الدفاع الباكستاني خواجة محمد آصف قال أمس إن الهدنة صامدة، وإنه يعتقد أن أفغانستان تريد السلام، محذراً من عدم التوصل إلى اتفاق في إسطنبول.
As delegations from both countries meet to defuse tensions between them, the Pakistani army announced today (Sunday) the death of 5 Pakistani soldiers and 25 militants in clashes near the border with Afghanistan.
The Pakistani army's media office stated that the militants attempted to cross from Afghanistan in the past 48 hours in the Kurram and North Waziristan regions, which are barren areas along Pakistan's northwestern border, explaining that the timing of these infiltration attempts raises doubts about the intentions of the Afghan interim government regarding its handling of threats emanating from its territory.
Hostilities
The Pakistani army called on the Afghan government to fulfill its commitments and prevent its territory from being used for hostile actions against Pakistan. The Taliban government and the Ministry of Defense have not yet commented on these statements.
The "Taliban" denies the accusations of harboring militants and claims that the Pakistani military operations violate Afghan sovereignty.
Officials from both countries are meeting in Istanbul to prevent the resurgence of conflict following clashes that occurred between their armies this month, which is the fiercest fighting along the border since the Taliban took control of Kabul in 2021.
Pakistani Warnings
The fighting erupted after Pakistan demanded that the Taliban curb the militants whom it says operate from safe havens within Afghanistan, leading to intense gunfire exchanges and Pakistan conducting airstrikes.
Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated yesterday that the ceasefire is holding and that he believes Afghanistan wants peace, warning of the consequences of failing to reach an agreement in Istanbul.
