أغلقت ليتوانيا اليوم (السبت)، مطار فيلنيوس عقب دخول مناطيد خاصة بالأرصاد الجوية المجال الجوي للبلاد قادمة من روسيا البيضاء المجاورة.
وأكد المركز الوطني لإدارة الأزمات في ليتوانيا أن الدولة الواقعة بمنطقة البلطيق أغلقت مطار فيلنيوس بسبب دخول مناطيد خاصة بالأرصاد الجوية المجال الجوي للبلاد قادمة من روسيا البيضاء المجاورة، وهو رابع إغلاق من نوعه خلال الشهر الجاري، موضحاً أنه أوقف حركة الطيران بالمطار حتى الثانية صباحاً بالتوقيت المحلي (23:00 بتوقيت غرينتش).
وتتهم ليتوانيا جماعات تهريب السجائر بإطلاق هذه المناطيد، لكنها تُحمّل أيضاً رئيس روسيا البيضاء ألكسندر لوكاشينكو، الحليف المقرب من الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين، مسؤولية غض الطرف عن تلك العمليات.
وقالت رئيسة وزراء ليتوانيا إنجا روجينينيه أمس (الجمعة) إن لجنة الأمن القومي ستجتمع هذا الأسبوع لتقييم الوضع.
وتسبب رصد طائرات مسيّرة وتوغلات جوية أخرى في إرباك حركة الطيران الأوروبية مراراً في الأسابيع القليلة الماضية، بما في ذلك مطارات في كوبنهاغن وميونيخ ومنطقة البلطيق.
Lithuania closed Vilnius Airport today (Saturday) after weather balloons entered the country's airspace coming from neighboring Belarus.
The National Crisis Management Center of Lithuania confirmed that the Baltic state closed Vilnius Airport due to the entry of weather balloons into the country's airspace from neighboring Belarus, marking the fourth such closure this month. It stated that flight operations at the airport were halted until 2 AM local time (23:00 GMT).
Lithuania accuses cigarette smuggling groups of launching these balloons, but it also holds Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, responsible for overlooking these operations.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė stated yesterday (Friday) that the National Security Committee will meet this week to assess the situation.
The detection of drones and other aerial incursions has repeatedly disrupted European air traffic in recent weeks, including airports in Copenhagen, Munich, and the Baltic region.
