في تصعيد دبلوماسي يهدد بتعطيل العلاقات التاريخية بين كندا وإسرائيل، أكد رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني، اليوم (الاثنين)، التزامه الكامل بأمر الاعتقال الصادر عن المحكمة الجنائية الدولية بحق رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، مشيراً إلى أن أي محاولة لدخول نتنياهو الأراضي الكندية ستؤدي إلى اعتقاله الفوري.
ورد كارني بـ«نعم» على سؤال الصحفية البريطانية ميشال حسين، حول ما إذا كان سيتم اعتقال نتنياهو إذا وصل إلى كندا، مشدداً: «نحن نحترم القانون الدولي، وسنلتزم بكل قرارات المحاكم الدولية، كما فعل سلفي جاستن ترودو».
موقف كندي ثابت
وأضاف كارني أن هذا الموقف يعكس «قيم الكنديين الأساسية» في دعم العدالة الدولية، مشيراً إلى أن قرار كندا الأخير بتأكيد دولة فلسطينية في الأمم المتحدة كان رد فعل مباشراً على «أفعال حكومة نتنياهو التي تهدف إلى إنهاء أي إمكانية لدولة فلسطينية، مخالفة لميثاق الأمم المتحدة وسياسة كندا منذ 1947».
وأكد رئيس الوزراء الكندي أن هذا الالتزام لا يتعارض مع دعوته لوقف إطلاق النار في غزة وتحقيق حل الدولتين، لكنه ضروري للحفاظ على مصداقية كندا دولياً.
ويأتي تصريح رئيس الوزراء الكندي، الذي أدلى به خلال مقابلة مع برنامج «The Mishal Husain Show» على «بلومبرغ»، في سياق التزام كندا كعضو مؤسس في المحكمة الجنائية الدولية بتفعيل قراراتها، لكنه أثار غضباً إسرائيلياً شديداً، حيث وصفه مستشار أمني مقرب من نتنياهو بأنه «خيانة لإسرائيل»، ودعا كارني إلى إعادة النظر في موقفه قبل فوات الأوان.
جذور الأزمة بين كندا وإسرائيل
تعود جذور الأزمة إلى نوفمبر 2024، عندما أصدرت المحكمة الجنائية الدولية في لاهاي مذكرتي اعتقال ضد نتنياهو ووزير الدفاع السابق يوآف غالانت، متهمة إياهما بارتكاب جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية خلال الحرب الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة، بما في ذلك استخدام «التجويع كوسيلة حرب»، وتوجيه هجمات متعمدة ضد المدنيين، ما أدى إلى مقتل عشرات الآلاف وتشريد ملايين آخرين.
وكانت مذكرات المحكمة الجنائية الدولية الأولى من نوعها ضد قادة دولة غربية تصف نفسها بأنها «ديموقراطية» وأثارت جدلاً دولياً حاداً، حيث رفضت إسرائيل القرارات معتبرة إياها «مسيئة سياسية» و«غير ملزمة»، بينما رحبت بها منظمات حقوقية ودول مثل إسبانيا، وإيرلندا، حيث أكدت استعدادها لتنفيذها.
إسرائيل ترد على كارني
لم يتأخر الرد الإسرائيلي، حيث نقلت وسائل إعلام عبرية عن مستشار السياسة الخارجية لنتنياهو أوفير فالك وصفه تصريحات كارني بأنها «خيانة صارخة لإسرائيل»، قائلاً: «كارني يخون حليفتنا التقليدية، ويجب أن يعيد النظر في استعداده لاعتقال رئيس وزراء الدولة اليهودية الوحيدة والديموقراطية في الشرق الأوسط. كنا نأمل أن يتراجع عن سياسة استرضاء الإرهاب بعد دعم كندا خطة السلام الأمريكية ذات 20 نقطة، لكنه الآن يدعم اتهامات سخيفة من محكمة سياسية».
ودعا فالك كارني إلى «استقبال نتنياهو بحفاوة دبلوماسية كاملة»، محذراً من أن هذا الموقف قد يؤدي إلى «تصدعات في العلاقات الثنائية»، خصوصاً مع استمرار إسرائيل في رفض الاتهامات ووصف المحكمة بـ«الأداة السياسية».

Carney responded with "yes" to a question from British journalist Mishal Husain about whether Netanyahu would be arrested if he arrived in Canada, emphasizing: "We respect international law, and we will adhere to all decisions of international courts, just as my predecessor Justin Trudeau did."
Canada's Firm Stance
Carney added that this position reflects "the core values of Canadians" in supporting international justice, pointing out that Canada's recent decision to affirm a Palestinian state at the United Nations was a direct reaction to "the actions of Netanyahu's government aimed at ending any possibility of a Palestinian state, in violation of the United Nations Charter and Canada's policy since 1947."
The Canadian Prime Minister confirmed that this commitment does not contradict his call for a ceasefire in Gaza and achieving a two-state solution, but it is essential for maintaining Canada's credibility internationally.
Carney's statement, made during an interview with "The Mishal Husain Show" on "Bloomberg," comes in the context of Canada's commitment as a founding member of the International Criminal Court to activate its decisions, but it has sparked intense Israeli outrage, with a security advisor close to Netanyahu describing it as "a betrayal of Israel," and urging Carney to reconsider his position before it is too late.

The roots of the crisis date back to November 2024, when the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, including using "starvation as a method of warfare" and deliberately targeting civilians, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of millions more.
The warrants from the International Criminal Court were the first of their kind against leaders of a Western state that describes itself as a "democracy" and sparked intense international controversy, with Israel rejecting the decisions as "politically motivated" and "non-binding," while human rights organizations and countries like Spain and Ireland welcomed them, affirming their readiness to implement them.
Israel Responds to Carney
The Israeli response was swift, as Hebrew media reported Netanyahu's foreign policy advisor Ofir Falk describing Carney's statements as "a blatant betrayal of Israel," saying: "Carney is betraying our traditional ally, and he should reconsider his willingness to arrest the Prime Minister of the only Jewish and democratic state in the Middle East. We had hoped he would retract his policy of appeasing terrorism after Canada supported the 20-point American peace plan, but now he supports ridiculous accusations from a political court."
Falk urged Carney to "welcome Netanyahu with full diplomatic courtesy," warning that this stance could lead to "fractures in bilateral relations," especially as Israel continues to reject the accusations and describes the court as a "political tool."
