Palestinian sources revealed today (Thursday) Egyptian arrangements to start a round of negotiations with Palestinian factions regarding the second phase of the Gaza agreement, expecting the arrival of two delegations from Hamas headed by Khalil al-Hayya, and Islamic Jihad headed by Ziad al-Nakhala, to Cairo today.
The sources clarified that there is an anticipated extensive Palestinian meeting in Cairo to discuss the formation of a committee to manage Gaza, and that the factions will also meet individually with the mediators in Cairo, noting that Cairo will witness intensive meetings in the coming hours.

Recovering the Bodies is a Complex Task

Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty confirmed that recovering the bodies of all Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip will be a complex task that requires time, pointing to the difficult field conditions in the sector that hinder access to the bodies.
Abdel Aty told CNN that the difficulty of accessing the bodies was one of the clear points during the ceasefire negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh, and Egypt plays a key role in efforts aimed at achieving calm in Gaza.

Delivering Aid to Gaza

The minister explained that the success of the ceasefire plan is directly linked to the necessity of delivering humanitarian aid to the sector, emphasizing: "We need to flood Gaza with food and relief supplies."
He pointed out that the repercussions of the war have become tangible at the level of the entire region, expecting that the second phase of the negotiations will be difficult.
Abdel Aty expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement, provided that all international parties, including the United States under Trump, continue to engage.

Opening the Rafah Crossing

On another note, Israel announced today that it is preparing to open the Rafah crossing in coordination with Egypt, for the passage of individuals only, not aid.
The Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories office stated that Israel is preventing the entry of aid through this crossing, while aid continues to enter the Gaza Strip from other crossings, attributing the closure of the Rafah crossing to the delay by Hamas in returning the remains of the hostages, considering it a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The office added that the date for opening the crossing will be announced later.
