في خطوة جريئة تجمع بين مكافحة الجريمة المنظمة والتضامن الدولي، أعلن الرئيس الكولومبي جوستافو بيترو اليوم (الثلاثاء) إرسال الذهب المصادر من عصابات تهريب المخدرات إلى قطاع غزة لتمويل جهود الإغاثة الإنسانية، بعد يوم واحد فقط من توقيع اتفاق شرم الشيخ للسلام الذي أنهى عامين من النزاع المدمر في القطاع.
القرار الذي تُقدر قيمته بملايين الدولارات، يُعدّ تعبيرا عن التزام كولومبيا بـ«تحويل أموال الشر إلى أعمال الخير»، كما وصفه بيترو في خطاب تلفزيوني.
5 أطنان من الذهب
وفقا للإعلان الرسمي من قصر روسيو الرئاسي، سيتم تحويل نحو 5 أطنان من الذهب النقي المصادر خلال عمليات مكافحة تجارة المخدرات في السنة الماضية -بقيمة تقدر بـ300 مليون دولار- إلى منظمات إغاثية دولية مثل الأمم المتحدة والصليب الأحمر، لدعم إعادة إعمار غزة وتوفير الغذاء والدواء لملايين السكان المتضررين.
وقال الرئيس الكولومبي: «هذا الذهب، الذي سرقته العصابات من أرضنا وشعبنا، سيصبح اليوم أداة لإنقاذ أرواح في غزة»، مشيرا إلى أن العملية ستشمل بيع الذهب عبر السوق الدولية وتحويل العائدات مباشرة إلى حسابات الإغاثة.
وأوضح جوستافو في منشور رسمي على حسابه في منصة «X» أن هذه الخطوة تهدف إلى توفير الرعاية الطبية للأطفال الذين أصيبوا خلال الحرب على غزة التي دامت عامين، مشيرا إلى أنه أصدر تعليمات مباشرة إلى جمعية الأصول الخاصة، وهي الجهة المعنية بإدارة الممتلكات المصادرة، لإرسال الذهب فورا لاستخدامه في دعم القطاع الطبي في غزة، تحديدا في علاج الأطفال المتضررين من العدوان.
يأتي القرار في سياق حملة بيترو الشاملة ضد تجارة الذهب غير الشرعي، الذي يُمول 70% من عمليات العصابات في كولومبيا، حيث صادرت السلطات أكثر من 10 أطنان في 2024 وحدها، مرتبطة بتدمير الغابات الأمازونية.
التزام ثابت بدعم فلسطين
ومع ذلك، يُبرز هذا الإجراء التزام بيترو الثابت بدعم فلسطين، الذي أثار جدلا دوليا سابقا؛ فقد قطع العلاقات مع إسرائيل في مايو 2024، وطرد دبلوماسييها في أكتوبر الجاري ردا على اعتراض أسطول إغاثة غزة، ودعا في الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة إلى «جيش عالمي لتحرير فلسطين»، ما أدى إلى إلغاء تأشيرته الأمريكية.

In a bold move that combines the fight against organized crime and international solidarity, Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced today (Tuesday) the sending of gold seized from drug trafficking gangs to the Gaza Strip to fund humanitarian relief efforts, just one day after signing the Sharm El Sheikh peace agreement that ended two years of devastating conflict in the region.
The decision, valued at millions of dollars, is an expression of Colombia's commitment to "turning the money of evil into acts of goodness," as Petro described it in a televised speech.
5 Tons of Gold
According to the official announcement from the Presidential Palace of Nariño, approximately 5 tons of pure gold seized during anti-drug trafficking operations last year—valued at an estimated $300 million—will be transferred to international relief organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Cross, to support the reconstruction of Gaza and provide food and medicine to millions of affected residents.
The Colombian president stated, "This gold, which was stolen by gangs from our land and our people, will today become a tool to save lives in Gaza," noting that the operation will include selling the gold through the international market and transferring the proceeds directly to relief accounts.
Gustavo clarified in an official post on his account on the "X" platform that this step aims to provide medical care for children who were injured during the two-year war on Gaza, indicating that he has given direct instructions to the Special Assets Society, which is responsible for managing seized properties, to send the gold immediately for use in supporting the medical sector in Gaza, specifically in treating children affected by the aggression.
This decision comes in the context of Petro's comprehensive campaign against illegal gold trade, which funds 70% of gang operations in Colombia, where authorities seized more than 10 tons in 2024 alone, linked to the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.
Steadfast Commitment to Supporting Palestine
However, this action highlights Petro's steadfast commitment to supporting Palestine, which has previously sparked international controversy; he severed relations with Israel in May 2024 and expelled its diplomats in October in response to the interception of a Gaza relief fleet, and called at the United Nations General Assembly for a "global army to liberate Palestine," which led to the cancellation of his U.S. visa.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who took office in August 2022 as the first leftist president in the country's history, is a former environmental and social activist in the M-19 resistance movement, and is known for his bold stances against imperialism and corruption, particularly in combating drug trafficking that generates billions of dollars annually in Colombia, the world's largest cocaine producer.
