The Sharm El-Sheikh summit announced its absolute support and endorsement of the agreement to end the war in Gaza, which was concluded on October 9, 2025, with the mediation of Egypt, the United States, Qatar, and Turkey.
According to a press statement issued by the Egyptian presidency following the peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh today (Monday), the summit addressed the importance of cooperation among international community members to provide all means necessary to monitor the implementation of the agreement's terms and ensure its continuity, including a comprehensive cessation of hostilities in Gaza, completing the process of exchanging hostages and prisoners, the Israeli withdrawal, and the entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the Gaza Strip. The summit witnessed the signing ceremony of the mediating countries' leaders on a document to support the agreement.
The summit called for the necessity to begin consultations on ways and mechanisms to implement the upcoming phases of President Trump's settlement plan, starting with issues related to governance and security provision, the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and ending with the political track for settlement.
Egypt welcomed the high-level participation that reflected clear international support for efforts to end the war, and Egypt will continue to cooperate with its regional and international partners to close this painful chapter in the history of the Middle East and the world, in which humanity has lost much of its humanity, and in which the international system based on rules has lost much of its credibility, and in which the peoples of the region have lost their sense of security.
Egypt affirmed that it would spare no effort to maintain the new horizon that was born in the city of peace, Sharm El-Sheikh, and will continue to work on addressing the roots of instability in the Middle East, foremost among them the lack of a settlement to the Palestinian issue, in order to achieve comprehensive and just peace.
The presidential statement emphasized that the Palestinian people have suffered as no other people has in modern history, and this brotherly people has managed to endure and remain steadfast despite the grave challenges. It stressed that Egypt will remain a support for them, backing their resilience and their legitimate, inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination and their right to live in safety and peace, just like all other peoples of the world, in an independent state that lives side by side with Israel, on their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, under their legitimate leadership and along the lines of June 4, 1967, in accordance with international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
Egypt looks forward, according to the statement, to achieving peace and will cooperate with everyone to build a Middle East free from conflicts, a Middle East built on justice and equality of rights, and on good neighborly relations and peaceful coexistence among all its peoples without exception.
The statement noted President Donald Trump's efforts to end the war through his settlement plan, and the pivotal role played by the brothers in both Qatar and Turkey in mediation efforts. The participating leaders praised Egypt's role in leading and coordinating humanitarian efforts since the beginning of the crisis, and in mediating until the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement was reached, and they commended the Egyptian efforts to hold the summit.
