The Israeli occupation army announced today (Friday) that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has come into effect, confirming that airstrikes have stopped.
The Israeli army radio reported that the army forces will soon complete their withdrawal to the "yellow line" agreed upon according to the plan of U.S. President Donald Trump. Eyewitnesses confirmed that Israeli forces began withdrawing from the northern Beach Camp in Gaza.
It was added that the 36th Division, known as the "Golani Brigade," has started pulling its vehicles out of the sector, noting that some displaced people have returned to check on their destroyed homes in the northern Beach Camp.
Yesterday (Thursday), Hamas' chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya announced that the movement received "guarantees from the mediators and from the U.S. administration, all confirming that the war has completely ended."
The spokesperson for the Israeli government, Shosh Bedrosian, mentioned that "the agreement will not come into effect until 24 hours after the government approves it."
She clarified that Hamas, under the agreement, must "release all hostages, both alive and deceased, within a maximum of 72 hours after the ceasefire comes into effect and the repositioning of Israeli forces, that is, by Monday."
She added that within 24 hours of the ceasefire coming into effect, Israeli forces will withdraw from some areas where they are deployed, but they will maintain control over 53% of the Gaza Strip's territory.
It is noteworthy that the U.S. president announced on Wednesday evening the reaching of an agreement between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of the Gaza plan, which is an agreement for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, potentially paving the way for ending a bloody war that has been ongoing for two years.
