The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that no violations were observed during the electoral process to select members of the People's Assembly. It stated in a post on the X platform today (Sunday) that its personnel began a comprehensive security deployment in all provinces early this morning to secure polling stations.

It added that the units, in accordance with the approved plan, secured the surroundings of the polling stations, organized the movement of citizens, and ensured the smooth flow of traffic, allowing voters to reach the ballot boxes easily and safely, while maintaining the electoral process in an atmosphere of calm and discipline. It mentioned that the plan was implemented in full coordination with the judicial and administrative authorities supervising the elections.

The ministry emphasized that these measures are part of its plan to ensure the safety of citizens and provide a secure and transparent electoral environment, enabling them to exercise their constitutional right freely and responsibly.

For his part, the head of the elections committee, Muhammad Al-Ahmad, reported that the electoral process proceeded smoothly, and that there were ambassadors observing the voting process, confirming that the door is open for any international supervision of the voting.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Supreme Elections Committee, Nawar Najma, announced that the elections began at 9 AM (local time) as scheduled, noting that the seats for Sweida, Raqqa, and Hasakah will remain vacant.

It is worth mentioning that the parliament will be formed for a term of 30 months, renewable, based on a mechanism specified by the constitutional declaration, and not through direct elections by the people. According to this mechanism, regional bodies formed by a higher committee will elect two-thirds of the council's members, totaling 210, while the Syrian President, Ahmad Al-Shara, will appoint the remaining third.
