أكد الأمين العام لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية جاسم البديوي، أن استضافة المملكة لاجتماع قادة مؤتمر ميونيخ للأمن، دلالة على دورها المحوري في تعزيز الأمن الدولي وحرصها على دعم الحوارات متعددة الأطراف لمعالجة التحديات الإقليمية والدولية.
وأعرب البديوي خلال مشاركته في افتتاح المؤتمر، اليوم (الأربعاء) بمشاركة عدد من الوزراء وكبار المسؤولين والمختصين من مختلف دول العالم، عن شكره وتقديره للقيادة الحكيمة في المملكة العربية السعودية ولوزير الخارجية الأمير فيصل بن فرحان على الاستضافة والتنظيم والإعداد المتميز لهذا الاجتماع الذي جمع العديد من كبار المسؤولين من مختلف دول العالم.
وقال إن ذلك يعكس ما توليه المملكة من اهتمام رفيع بتعزيز العمل المشترك والحوارات العالمية وفتح قنوات أوسع لتبادل وجهات النظر مع الشركاء الإقليميين والدوليين في القضايا ذات الأولوية لدفع وصياغة مقاربات أكثر شمولاً واستباقية للأمن والاستقرار، خصوصاً أن هذه المشاركة رفيعة المستوى تؤكد مكانة السعودية إقليمياً ودولياً.
وشارك في الجلسة الافتتاحية وزراء الخارجية السعودي فيصل بن فرحان، والأردني أيمن الصفدي، والمصري بدر عبد العاطي، إضافة إلى المبعوث الخاص للرئيس الفرنسي إلى لبنان جان إيف لو دريان.
ويشارك في الاجتماعات مسؤولون عرب وأوروبيون أبرزهم وزير الخارجية التركي هاكان فيدان، وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد الشيباني، ونائب رئيس الوزراء الكويتي فهد سعود الصباح.
يذكر أن «مؤتمر ميونخ للأمن» تأسس عام 1963، ويعد أكبر وأهم المؤتمرات التي تناقش السياسة الأمنية على مستوى العالم، ويلتقي خلاله المئات من القادة وصناع القرار من مختلف دول العالم.
وعلى هامش فعاليات المؤتمر، تلتقي المجموعة التشاورية الخاصة بالشرق الأوسط لمواصلة نقاشاتها حول سبل تعزيز الحوار والتعاون الإقليمي.
وقال رئيس مجلس أمناء مؤسسة مؤتمر ميونيخ للأمن ولفغانغ اشينغر، إن الشرق الأوسط يقف الآن على مفترق طريق رئيس في خارطة التغييرات الديناميكية الدولية، الأمر الذي يحتم عقد هذا الاجتماع بهدف خلق مساحة فاعلة لاستكشاف آفاق نحو الحلول، وإرساء أسس النقاشات المستقبلية والتي ستتواصل خلال اجتماعات مؤتمر ميونيخ للأمن القادمة.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Al-Budaiwi, confirmed that the Kingdom's hosting of the Munich Security Conference leaders' meeting is a testament to its pivotal role in enhancing international security and its commitment to supporting multilateral dialogues to address regional and international challenges.
During his participation in the opening of the conference today (Wednesday), alongside several ministers, senior officials, and specialists from various countries around the world, Al-Budaiwi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the wise leadership in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan for the distinguished hosting, organization, and preparation of this meeting, which brought together many senior officials from different countries.
He stated that this reflects the high level of interest that the Kingdom places on enhancing joint action and global dialogues, and opening wider channels for exchanging views with regional and international partners on priority issues to drive and formulate more comprehensive and proactive approaches to security and stability, especially since this high-level participation affirms Saudi Arabia's status regionally and internationally.
Participating in the opening session were Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti, in addition to the French President's Special Envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Arab and European officials are participating in the meetings, including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad, and Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister Fahd Saud Al-Sabah.
It is noteworthy that the "Munich Security Conference" was established in 1963 and is considered the largest and most important conference discussing security policy at the global level, where hundreds of leaders and decision-makers from various countries meet.
On the sidelines of the conference, the special consultative group for the Middle East will meet to continue discussions on ways to enhance regional dialogue and cooperation.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger, stated that the Middle East is now at a major crossroads in the map of dynamic international changes, which necessitates holding this meeting to create an effective space to explore avenues towards solutions and to lay the foundations for future discussions that will continue during the upcoming Munich Security Conference meetings.
