روسيا تستهدف كييف بـ500 طائرة و40 صاروخاً

In one of the largest Russian attacks since the outbreak of the war, the capital Kyiv was subjected to a heavy assault by drones and missiles early today (Sunday).

Drones flew over the city, and the sounds of air defense systems echoed throughout the night and continued into the morning.

Ukrainian sources and eyewitnesses reported several injuries, and some residents took shelter in underground metro stations. Some areas across the country were placed on alert for air raids, and Poland closed its airspace near two of its cities in the southeast, deploying its air force to monitor the airspace. Sources confirmed damage to a bread production facility, a tire factory, residential homes, and other civilian infrastructure due to the strikes.

500 Drones and 40 Missiles

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a post on the platform "X" that the massive Russian attack on Ukraine lasted for more than 12 hours with brutal strikes, targeting cities with around 500 attack drones and more than 40 missiles, including Kinzhal missiles. He announced that four people were killed in Kyiv, including a 12-year-old girl, and 40 others were injured, including children.

Zelensky confirmed that his country relies on a strong response from the United States, Europe, the G7, and the G20.

Launch of Hundreds of Drones and Missiles

For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that Russia launched "hundreds of drones and missiles" at Ukraine on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

He wrote on the platform "X": "Russia launched a new intensive air attack on Ukrainian cities while the residents were asleep. Once again, hundreds of drones and missiles destroyed residential buildings and caused civilian casualties."

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the Ukrainian capital is under a massive attack and urged residents to stay in shelters. Klitschko wrote on "Telegram": "The injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment."

Meanwhile, the governor of the Zaporizhia region announced that Russian strikes targeted it, resulting in at least four injuries. Ukrainian presidential office head Andriy Yermak stated: "Once again, residential buildings and infrastructure are being targeted. Once again, it is a war against civilians."

He added, "There will be a response, but Western economic strikes against Russia must also be stronger."

Poland on Military Alert

For its part, Polish forces announced on the platform "X" that they have deployed fighter jets in their airspace and placed ground air defense systems on high alert in response to the Russian strikes in Ukraine.

They clarified that these measures are precautionary and aim to secure Polish airspace and protect citizens, especially in areas adjacent to Ukraine.
