Egypt confirmed its continued regional and international communications to emphasize the necessity of respecting the unity of Syria and its full sovereignty, rejecting any attempts to undermine its security.

This was stated by the Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty during a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Egypt's Position on the Unity of Syria

According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast position regarding the necessity of preserving the unity of Syria and the integrity of its territory, supporting national state institutions in a way that ensures the restoration of its full sovereignty over its lands and safeguarding the resources of the Syrian brotherly people.

He added that the political path with the participation of all components of the Syrian people is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable stability.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister also emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, affirming that Egypt sees the restoration of Syria's vitality and its natural role within its Arab and regional surroundings as a primary goal that enhances Arab national security.

Minister Badr Abdel Aty also reiterated Egypt's firm rejection of the repeated Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty, warning of the dangers of attempts to exploit the current situation to justify external interventions.
