فيما لا تزال المحادثات جارية بين الترويكا الأوروبية وإيران للتفاوض على تأجيل العقوبات، أعلن رئيس منظمة الطاقة الذرية الإيرانية اليوم (الأربعاء) عزم بلاده إعادة بناء المنشآت النووية التي تعرضت للقصف خلال حرب الـ12 يوما في يونيو الماضي مع إسرائيل وأمريكا.
وقال محمد إسلامي في مقابلة صحفية: «رغم الضغوط الدولية وتهديدات إسرائيل بمزيد من الهجمات، المنشآت التي استُهدفت سيعاد بناؤها»، مضيفاً: «ارتفاع نسبة التخصيب لا يعني بالضرورة أنها مخصّصة للسلاح، نحن بحاجة إلى تخصيب أعلى لأدواتنا الخاصة بالقياسات الدقيقة».
الفرصة الأخيرة لإيران
من جهة أخرى، أكدت مسؤولة السياسية الخارجية الأوروبية كايا كالاس، أن أمام الدبلوماسية الإيرانية فرصة أخيرة، موضحة أن المهل الزمنية لعودة العقوبات تقترب من الانتهاء.
وقالت كالاس: «نحتاج إلى رؤية تحرك حقيقي من الجانب الإيراني»، وذلك بعد أن أجرى وزراء خارجية فرنسا وبريطانيا وألمانيا (الترويكا الأوروبية)، وهي الدول الموقعة على الاتفاق النووي الإيراني في عام 2015، ومعهم مسؤولة السياسة الخارجية بالاتحاد الأوروبي، محادثات مع نظيرهم الإيراني، عباس عراقجي، على هامش اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك أمس.
عقوبات أوروبية
وعرضت مجموعة «الترويكا الأوروبية»، خلال الاجتماع أمس، تأجيل معاودة فرض العقوبات لمدة تصل إلى ستة أشهر لإتاحة المجال أمام إجراء محادثات بشأن اتفاق طويل الأجل إذا سمحت إيران مجددا لمفتشي الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية، بدخول أراضيها، وعالجت المخاوف إزاء مخزونها من اليورانيوم المخصب وانخرطت في محادثات مع الولايات المتحدة.
محادثات مستمرة
من جهتها، أكدت الخارجية الإيرانية، عقب الاجتماع مع «الترويكا الأوروبية»، أنه في ضوء الخطوة غير المبررة وغير القانونية لإعادة فرض عقوبات مجلس الأمن الدولي التابع للأمم المتحدة، طُرحت بعض الأفكار والمقترحات خلال الاجتماع لمواصلة الجهود الدبلوماسية، وجرى الاتفاق على استمرار المشاورات.
ونقلت وسائل إعلام إيرانية أمس مستشار المرشد الإيراني علي لاريجاني قوله: إن الدول الغربية تقديم وعودا فارغة، موضحا أن طهران «لن تقبل إلا اقتراحا معقولا وعادلا، يضمن مصالحها».
طهران لم تستوف الشروط
وكان دبلوماسي فرنسي، قد ذكر أن إيران لم تستوفِ الشروط في الوقت الحالي، لكن المناقشات ستستمر لاستكشاف جميع الاحتمالات على أكمل وجه، موضحا أن دول الترويكا ستبقى مُستعدة حتى اللحظة الأخيرة، والكرة في ملعب إيران.
وأطلقت «الترويكا الأوروبية» في 28 أغسطس الماضي، مهلة مدتها 30 يوما لمعاودة فرض عقوبات للأمم المتحدة تنتهي (السبت) 27 سبتمبر، متهمة طهران بعدم الالتزام باتفاق عام 2015 مع القوى العالمية الذي يهدف إلى منعها من تطوير سلاح نووي.
While talks are still ongoing between the European troika and Iran to negotiate a postponement of sanctions, the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization announced today (Wednesday) the country's intention to rebuild the nuclear facilities that were bombed during the 12-day war last June with Israel and the United States.
Mohammad Islami stated in a press interview: "Despite international pressures and Israel's threats of further attacks, the targeted facilities will be rebuilt," adding: "An increase in enrichment levels does not necessarily mean it is intended for weapons; we need higher enrichment for our precision measurement tools."
Iran's Last Chance
On another note, European foreign policy chief Kaia Kallas confirmed that Iranian diplomacy has a last chance, explaining that the deadlines for the return of sanctions are approaching expiration.
Kallas said: "We need to see real movement from the Iranian side," following discussions held by the foreign ministers of France, Britain, and Germany (the European troika), the countries that signed the Iranian nuclear agreement in 2015, along with the EU foreign policy chief, with their Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York yesterday.
European Sanctions
During yesterday's meeting, the "European troika" offered to postpone the re-imposition of sanctions for up to six months to allow for talks on a long-term agreement if Iran once again allows International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to enter its territory, addresses concerns regarding its stockpile of enriched uranium, and engages in discussions with the United States.
Ongoing Talks
For its part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed, following the meeting with the "European troika," that in light of the unjustified and illegal step of re-imposing United Nations Security Council sanctions, some ideas and proposals were raised during the meeting to continue diplomatic efforts, and it was agreed to maintain consultations.
Iranian media reported yesterday that the advisor to the Iranian leader, Ali Larijani, stated that Western countries are making empty promises, clarifying that Tehran "will only accept a reasonable and fair proposal that guarantees its interests."
Tehran Has Not Met the Conditions
A French diplomat mentioned that Iran has not met the conditions at this time, but discussions will continue to explore all possibilities to the fullest, clarifying that the troika countries will remain ready until the last moment, and the ball is in Iran's court.
The "European troika" launched a 30-day deadline on August 28 for the re-imposition of United Nations sanctions, which ends on (Saturday) September 27, accusing Tehran of not complying with the 2015 agreement with global powers aimed at preventing it from developing nuclear weapons.
