أكد رئيس البرلمان العربي، محمد بن أحمد اليماحي، أن انتخاب المملكة العربية السعودية عضوا في مجلس محافظي الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية ضمن الدول الأعضاء في المجلس بدورته القادمة حتى العام 2027، يمثل إنجازا عربيا ويعكس الثقة التي تتمتع بها المملكة العربية السعودية على المستوى الإقليمي والدولي.
وأضاف رئيس البرلمان العربي أن هذا الاستحقاق الدولي الجديد للمملكة هو إضافة نوعية لمسيرتها الحافلة بالإنجازات، ورسالة فخر واعتزاز لكل العرب، ودليل على الثقة العالمية بالدور السعودي الفاعل والمؤثر في دعم الأمن والاستقرار والتنمية على مستوى العالم، في ظل القيادة الرشيدة لخادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان.
وأشاد رئيس البرلمان العربي بالدور الريادي للمملكة في تعزيز منظومة الأمن النووي العالمي، ومبادراتها المتعددة في دعم الجهود الدولية الرامية إلى منع الانتشار النووي، بما يجسد رؤيتها الإستراتيجية ومكانتها المحورية على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي.
يأتي هذا الانتخاب خلال الدورة الـ69 لمؤتمر الوكالة العام في فيينا، حيث صوّت الأعضاء لصالح المملكة العربية السعودية إلى جانب دول أخرى مثل الأردن، لتعزيز التعاون الدولي في مجال الطاقة النووية السلمية.
وفي تصريحات سابقة، أكد رئيس مدينة الملك عبدالله للطاقة الذرية والمتجددة، الدكتور خالد بن صالح السلطان، أن هذا الفوز يعكس تقدير المجتمع الدولي لجهود المملكة في الأمن النووي، ويُترجم لمشروعها الوطني للطاقة الذرية كخيار إستراتيجي لتحقيق مزيج طاقة متوازن.
The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yemahi, confirmed that the election of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a member of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency among the member states in the upcoming session until 2027 represents an Arab achievement and reflects the confidence that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoys at the regional and international levels.
The President of the Arab Parliament added that this new international entitlement for the Kingdom is a qualitative addition to its journey filled with achievements, a message of pride and honor for all Arabs, and evidence of global confidence in the effective and influential Saudi role in supporting security, stability, and development worldwide, under the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
The President of the Arab Parliament praised the Kingdom's pioneering role in enhancing the global nuclear security system and its multiple initiatives in supporting international efforts aimed at preventing nuclear proliferation, which embodies its strategic vision and its pivotal position at both the regional and international levels.
This election comes during the 69th session of the Agency's General Conference in Vienna, where members voted in favor of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia alongside other countries such as Jordan, to enhance international cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.
In previous statements, the President of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan, confirmed that this victory reflects the international community's appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts in nuclear security and translates into its national atomic energy project as a strategic option to achieve a balanced energy mix.
