أصابع الاتهام تُشير إلى روسيا
وأشار خبير أمني لصحيفة «ديلي ميل» إلى احتمال تورط روسيا في الهجوم، مشيرا إلى أن توقيته، الذي جاء بعد ساعات من اختراق ثلاث مقاتلات روسية من طراز ميغ-31 للأجواء الإستونية، يثير الشكوك.
وقال روب جاردن، كبير المسؤولين الرقميين في شركة «نيم في بي إن» للأمن السيبراني، إن روسيا تمتلك واحدة من أكبر مجموعات القراصنة في العالم، وهي معروفة بشن حملات تخريبية ضد البنية التحتية الأوروبية، بما في ذلك شبكات الطاقة والاتصالات.
وأضاف جاردن أن الهجوم على المطارات ليس مجرد إزعاج للركاب، بل يهدف إلى إثارة الذعر، وإضعاف الثقة في البنية التحتية الحيوية، وممارسة ضغوط سياسية دون إطلاق رصاصة واحدة.
سوابق استهدافات روسية للطيران
وأشار إلى أن روسيا استهدفت قطاع الطيران سابقا، حيث تسببت مجموعات قرصنة روسية في تعطيل مواقع مطارين بريطانيين في عام 2023، كما ارتبطت شبهات بتسببها في انهيار عالمي لأنظمة تكنولوجيا المعلومات العام الماضي.
وأكدت «كولينز إيروسبيس»، التابعة لشركة «آر تي إكس»، أنها تعمل على حل المشكلة بسرعة، مشيرة إلى أن التأثير يقتصر على أنظمة تسجيل الوصول الإلكترونية وتسليم الأمتعة، مع إمكانية التعامل يدويا لتخفيف الاضطرابات.
فوضى وشلل في مطارات أوروبا
وفي الوقت نفسه، أفادت مطارات هيثرو وبروكسل وبرلين بأن العمليات تعتمد حاليا على التسجيل اليدوي، مما أدى إلى تأخيرات كبيرة.
واشتكى الركاب من سوء التنظيم ونقص المعلومات، حيث وصف أحدهم الوضع في هيثرو بأنه «فوضوي» مع طوابير استمرت لساعات. وفي بروكسل، تحدث مسافر عن تغيير بوابات الطائرة سبع مرات دون إشعارات واضحة.
من جهته، حذر خبير الطيران بول تشارلز من خطورة الهجوم، مشيرا إلى أن استهداف شركة مثل «كولينز إيروسبيس»، التي تزود الحكومات حول العالم، يثير قلقا عميقا، ودعا جاردن إلى تعزيز الدفاعات السيبرانية الأوروبية وبناء أنظمة لا مركزية لتقليل نقاط الضعف.
تأتي هذه الحادثة في ظل تصعيد روسي متزايد، حيث شنت روسيا هجوما جويا مدمرا على أوكرانيا، أسفر عن مقتل ثلاثة أشخاص وإصابة العشرات.
إدانة ترمب وصمت الكرملين
فيما أدان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب الاختراق الروسي للأجواء الإستونية، واصفا إياه بـ«المتهور»، وأعرب عن قلقه من تصاعد التوترات؛ لم يصدر الكرملين تعليقا رسميا على اتهامات الهجوم السيبراني حتى الآن.
Several major European airports, including Heathrow in London, Berlin Brandenburg, and Brussels Airport, experienced significant disruptions in check-in and boarding operations due to a cyberattack targeting Collins Aerospace, a provider of aviation systems, on Friday night. The attack led to flight delays and cancellations, causing long queues and frustration among passengers at these airports.
Fingers Point to Russia
A security expert told the Daily Mail about the possibility of Russian involvement in the attack, noting that its timing, which came just hours after three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets breached Estonian airspace, raises suspicions.
Rob Garden, Chief Digital Officer at cybersecurity firm Nim VPN, stated that Russia possesses one of the largest hacker groups in the world and is known for launching disruptive campaigns against European infrastructure, including energy and communication networks.
Garden added that the attack on the airports is not just an inconvenience for passengers but aims to incite panic, undermine trust in critical infrastructure, and exert political pressure without firing a single bullet.
Previous Russian Targeting of Aviation
He pointed out that Russia has previously targeted the aviation sector, as Russian hacking groups disrupted the websites of two British airports in 2023, and suspicions have been linked to their role in a global collapse of IT systems last year.
Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, confirmed that it is working to resolve the issue quickly, noting that the impact is limited to electronic check-in systems and baggage delivery, with the possibility of manual handling to alleviate disruptions.
Chaos and Paralysis in European Airports
Meanwhile, Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin airports reported that operations are currently relying on manual check-in, resulting in significant delays.
Passengers complained about poor organization and a lack of information, with one describing the situation at Heathrow as "chaotic" with queues lasting for hours. In Brussels, a traveler spoke of the airplane gates changing seven times without clear notifications.
For his part, aviation expert Paul Charles warned of the seriousness of the attack, pointing out that targeting a company like Collins Aerospace, which supplies governments worldwide, raises deep concerns, and Garden called for strengthening European cybersecurity defenses and building decentralized systems to reduce vulnerabilities.
This incident comes amid increasing Russian escalation, as Russia launched a devastating airstrike on Ukraine, resulting in three deaths and dozens of injuries.
Trump's Condemnation and the Kremlin's Silence
While U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the Russian breach of Estonian airspace, calling it "reckless," and expressed concern over rising tensions, the Kremlin has not yet issued an official comment on the cyberattack allegations.
