فيما تتحدث أنباء عن لقاء مرتقب اليوم (الجمعة)، بين الرئيس دونالد ترمب ورئيس الوزراء وزير الخارجية القطري الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن في نيويورك لمناقشة تبعات الهجوم الإسرائيلي على الدوحة، شهدت جلسة مجلس الأمن الدولي أمس، إدانات دولية واسعة.
وأعربت قوى غربية عن دعمها لسيادة قطر، محذرين من أن الهجوم يمثل تصعيداً خطيراً يهدد الاستقرار في المنطقة، وعبر مجلس الأمن الدولي عن إدانته للهجوم على الدوحة، لكنه لم يذكر إسرائيل في البيان الذي وافقت عليه كل الدول الأعضاء البالغ عددها 15 ومن بينها الولايات المتحدة حليفة إسرائيل.
إجهاض للسلام
واتهم رئيس الوزراء وزير الخارجية القطري الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني إسرائيل بمحاولة عرقلة جهود إنهاء الحرب في غزة من خلال مهاجمة قادة حماس في الدوحة، لكنه تعهد بمواصلة جهود الوساطة.
وقال آل ثاني، أمام المجلس «الاعتداء على أرضنا خلال انشغالنا بالوساطة كشف بوضوح عن نوايا إسرائيلية مبيتة لإجهاض أي مسعى نحو السلام وإطالة أمد المعاناة الإنسانية للشعب الفلسطيني الشقيق الذي يتعرض لحجم من المعاناة تعجز الكلمات عن وصفه، كما يكشف عن أن المتطرفين الذين يحكمون إسرائيل الآن لا يأبهون بحياة المحتجزين وأن تحريرهم ليس أولوية لديهم».
وأكدت دول خليجية وعربية أنها لن تتهاون مع العبث باستقرار المنطقة.
لقاء ترمب
من جهة أخرى، ذكر موقع «أكسيوس» الأمريكي، أن الرئيس دونالد ترمب سيلتقي رئيس الوزراء وزير الخارجية القطري الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن في نيويورك اليوم (الجمعة)، لمناقشة تبعات الهجوم الإسرائيلي الذي استهدف قادة حركة «حماس» في الدوحة.
واعتبر «أكسيوس»، أن لقاء ترمب مع رئيس الوزراء القطري، هو محاولة أخرى من ترمب لإظهار دعمه لقطر، ومعارضته للضربة الإسرائيلية، فيما قال مصدران إن لقاء الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن مع ترمب وعدد من كبار مسؤولي الإدارة الأمريكية هو جزء من الجهود الدبلوماسية التي تبذلها الدوحة للضغط على إسرائيل لإنهاء حربها على غزة.
As reports speak of a scheduled meeting today (Friday) between President Donald Trump and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman in New York to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli attack on Doha, the United Nations Security Council session yesterday witnessed widespread international condemnations.
Western powers expressed their support for Qatar's sovereignty, warning that the attack represents a serious escalation that threatens stability in the region. The United Nations Security Council condemned the attack on Doha but did not mention Israel in the statement approved by all 15 member states, including the United States, an ally of Israel.
Sabotage of Peace
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani accused Israel of attempting to obstruct efforts to end the war in Gaza by targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, but he pledged to continue mediation efforts.
Al Thani stated before the council, "The assault on our land while we are engaged in mediation clearly reveals Israel's premeditated intentions to sabotage any attempt towards peace and prolong the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people, who are experiencing a level of suffering that words cannot describe. It also shows that the extremists currently ruling Israel do not care about the lives of the detainees and that their release is not a priority for them."
Gulf and Arab countries affirmed that they will not tolerate any interference with the stability of the region.
Trump Meeting
On another note, the American website "Axios" reported that President Donald Trump will meet with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman in New York today (Friday) to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli attack targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.
Axios considered that Trump's meeting with the Qatari Prime Minister is another attempt by Trump to show his support for Qatar and his opposition to the Israeli strike, while two sources stated that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman’s meeting with Trump and several senior U.S. administration officials is part of the diplomatic efforts being made by Doha to pressure Israel to end its war on Gaza.
