وقالت الصحيفة إن مراسم وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية (البنتاغون) لإحياء الذكرى السنوية لهجمات 11 سبتمبر 2001 نُقلت إلى مكان أكثر أمنا، في حين ستُتخذ تدابير إضافية عندما يحضر ترمب مباراة بيسبول مساء الخميس بالتوقيت المحلي في نيويورك.
وأضافت الصحيفة أن فريق ترمب يُجري مناقشات أوسع نطاقا بخصوص كيفية زيادة أمن الرئيس بخلاف تأمين الفعاليات التي سيحضرها هذا الأسبوع.
وبدأت الشرطة الأمريكية ومكتب التحقيقات الاتحادي (إف.بي.آي) عملية مطاردة مكثفة بحثا عن قناص قتل كيرك وهو يجيب على أسئلة عن العنف المسلح خلال مشاركته في فعالية جامعية بولاية يوتا.
يُنسب إلى كيرك (31 عاما)، وهو مقدم برنامج إذاعي على الإنترنت (بودكاست) وحليف مقرب لترمب، الفضل في بناء قاعدة تأييد للرئيس الجمهوري بين الناخبين الشبان. وقتل بالرصاص أمس الأول (الأربعاء)، فيما وصفه سبنسر كوكس حاكم ولاية يوتا بأنه اغتيال سياسي.
The Wall Street Journal reported that President Donald Trump's team has begun tightening security measures following the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The newspaper stated that the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) memorial ceremony for the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks has been moved to a safer location, while additional measures will be taken when Trump attends a baseball game on Thursday evening local time in New York.
The newspaper added that Trump's team is having broader discussions about how to increase the president's security beyond securing the events he will attend this week.
U.S. police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have launched an intensive manhunt for the sniper who killed Kirk while he was answering questions about gun violence during a college event in Utah.
Kirk, 31, a host of an online radio program (podcast) and a close ally of Trump, is credited with building a support base for the Republican president among young voters. He was shot dead the day before yesterday (Wednesday), which Utah Governor Spencer Cox described as a political assassination.
