أعلنت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية، اليوم (الخميس)، فرض عقوبات جديدة على الحوثيين، مؤكدة أن العقوبات تستهدف 32 فرداً وكياناً و4 سفن حوثية، في أكبر إجراء منذ بدء العقوبات.
وأفادت الخزانة الأمريكية، على موقعها الإلكتروني، أن الشبكات المستهدفة اليوم جزء من عمليات الحوثيين العالمية غير المشروعة لجمع الأموال والتهريب وشراء الأسلحة، وتشمل الشركات المرتبطة بالحوثيين وأصحابها وغيرهم من عملاء الحوثيين الرئيسيين الموجودين في اليمن ودول أخرى.
مواصلة الضغط
وقال وكيل وزارة الخزانة لشؤون الإرهاب والاستخبارات المالية جون ك. هيرلي: يواصل الحوثيون تهديد الأفراد والأصول الأمريكية في البحر الأحمر، ومهاجمة حلفائنا في المنطقة، وتقويض الأمن البحري الدولي، مضيفاً: سنواصل ممارسة أقصى قدر من الضغط ضد أولئك الذين يهددون أمن الولايات المتحدة والمنطقة.
وذكر البيان أن المستهدفين يقومون بتمويل وتسهيل حصول الحوثيين على مواد عسكرية متقدمة، بما في ذلك الصواريخ الباليستية وصواريخ كروز ومكونات الطائرات المسيرة، المستخدمة لمهاجمة قوات الولايات المتحدة وحلفائها، وكذلك الشحن التجاري في البحر الأحمر.
تمويل الحوثي
وأشار البيان إلى أن هذه الهجمات أسفرت عن مقتل العديد من المدنيين وتهديد الاقتصاد الأمريكي والتجارة العالمية بشكل مباشر، فضلاً عن السلام والاستقرار الأوسع في الشرق الأوسط، مبيناً أن الحوثيين المعاقبين يحققون إيرادات كبيرة من خلال استيراد النفط والسلع الأخرى عبر الموانئ الخاضعة لسيطرتهم، والإشراف على عمليات التهريب المعقدة، وغسل مبالغ ضخمة من الأموال نيابة عن القيادة الحوثية العليا.
وأفاد البيان أن عائدات هذه الأنشطة غير المشروعة وسلسلة توريد الأسلحة العالمية للحوثيين، والتي تعتمد على عملاء المشتريات والشركات الواجهة وميسري الشحن ومختلف الموردين تمثل مصدر تمويل للحوثي.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today (Thursday) new sanctions against the Houthis, confirming that the sanctions target 32 individuals and entities and 4 Houthi ships, marking the largest action since the sanctions began.
The U.S. Treasury stated on its website that the networks targeted today are part of the Houthis' global illicit operations to raise funds, smuggle, and purchase weapons, including companies linked to the Houthis and their owners, as well as other key Houthi operatives located in Yemen and other countries.
Continuing Pressure
Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, John K. Hurley, said: "The Houthis continue to threaten American individuals and assets in the Red Sea, attack our allies in the region, and undermine international maritime security," adding: "We will continue to exert maximum pressure against those who threaten the security of the United States and the region."
The statement noted that the targeted individuals are financing and facilitating the Houthis' access to advanced military materials, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drone components, used to attack U.S. forces and their allies, as well as commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
Houthi Financing
The statement indicated that these attacks have resulted in the deaths of many civilians and directly threaten the U.S. economy and global trade, as well as broader peace and stability in the Middle East, pointing out that the sanctioned Houthis generate significant revenue by importing oil and other goods through ports under their control, overseeing complex smuggling operations, and laundering large sums of money on behalf of the Houthi leadership.
The statement reported that the proceeds from these illicit activities and the global arms supply chain for the Houthis, which relies on procurement agents, front companies, shipping facilitators, and various suppliers, represent a source of funding for the Houthis.
