In his luxury car, the son of a Houthi leader ran over a man and two children who were selling pomegranates in the city of Ibb, central Yemen, yesterday (Friday), while they were trying to find something to feed their families, who are suffering from hunger due to the Houthi destruction of the national economy.
Local residents reported that the son of the Houthi leader, who was driving a modern SUV, recklessly ran over a man and two children selling pomegranates on the road branching off from the western ring road towards the sports stadium, resulting in their immediate deaths. They indicated that the car also hit a motorcycle that was parked at the scene of the incident.
The hit-and-run incident sparked widespread anger among the residents of Ibb Governorate, confirming that the vehicle, which bore a government plate, belonged to a Houthi leader and was being driven by his son, while the leader is attempting to cover up and smuggle his son to evade punishment.
Incidents of Houthi patrols and vehicles running over civilians in the streets have increased, especially in the governorates of Ibb and Taiz, as medical sources confirm that all those who commit these hit-and-run incidents among Houthi militants and leaders flee, leaving the victims to face their fate. Their families are forced to bear the burdens and sell their possessions to treat the victims if they do not die.
