أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الباكستانية اليوم (السبت) تمسك الحكومة بتنفيذ قرارها بترحيل اللاجئين الأفغان من البلاد، رافضة دعوات الأمم المتحدة لوقف ذلك، قائلة: «نحن من يقرر من يبقى».
ونقلت وكالة «خاما برس» الأفغانية عن المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الباكستانية، شفقت علي خان، للصحافيين أن سياسة الإعادة إلى الوطن لم تتغير، ولن يكون هناك تعليق للعملية، مؤكداً أن البلاد تحتفظ بـ«سياسة تأشيرات ليبرالية» مرنة للأفغان الذين يسعون للدخول بشكل قانوني.
تحذير أممي
وكان المفوض السامي للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، فيليبو غراندي، قد طالب باكستان بوقف عمليات الترحيل في ظل الزلزال المدمر الذي ضرب إقليم كونار الأفغاني، والذي أسفر عن نزوح الآلاف.
فيما دعا المقرر الخاص للأمم المتحدة المعني بحقوق الإنسان في أفغانستان، ريتشارد بينيت، باكستان إلى تأجيل عمليات الطرد، محذراً من تداعيات أزمة إنسانية خطيرة على الأسر الضعيفة في أفغانستان.
وكانت باكستان قد حددت الأول من سبتمبر موعداً نهائياً للاجئين الأفغان غير حاملي الوثائق ومن انتهت تصاريح إقامتهم المؤقتة لمغادرة البلاد طوعاً.
مخاوف الطلاب
ورغم مؤشرات الانفراج الدبلوماسي بين كابل وإسلام آباد، فلا تزال أزمة اللاجئين الأفغان في باكستان قائمة. وبحسب وسائل إعلام أفغانية، يعاني الطلاب الأفغان الحاصلون على قبول دراسي في الجامعات والمعاهد التعليمية الباكستانية من توقف تجديد تأشيراتهم.
وذكرت قناة «طلوع نيوز» أن الطلاب تقدموا بطلبات تمديد منذ 4 أشهر، لكن الحكومة الباكستانية لم تصدر لهم تأشيرات بعد، فيما ذكر مسؤولون أفغان أن آلاف العائلات عادت إلى كابل عبر الحدود بين البلدين، على الرغم من الزلزال المدمر الذي ضرب ولايات شرقية من أفغانستان الأيام الماضية.
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (Saturday) that the government is committed to implementing its decision to deport Afghan refugees from the country, rejecting calls from the United Nations to halt this, stating: "We are the ones who decide who stays."
The Afghan news agency "Khaama Press" quoted the spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, as saying to reporters that the repatriation policy has not changed, and there will be no suspension of the process, emphasizing that the country maintains a "liberal visa policy" that is flexible for Afghans seeking to enter legally.
UN Warning
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, had urged Pakistan to stop deportation operations in light of the devastating earthquake that struck the Afghan province of Kunar, which resulted in the displacement of thousands.
Meanwhile, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, called on Pakistan to postpone expulsion operations, warning of the consequences of a serious humanitarian crisis for vulnerable families in Afghanistan.
Pakistan had set September 1 as a deadline for undocumented Afghan refugees and those whose temporary residence permits have expired to leave the country voluntarily.
Concerns of Students
Despite signs of diplomatic thaw between Kabul and Islamabad, the Afghan refugee crisis in Pakistan remains ongoing. According to Afghan media, Afghan students who have been accepted into Pakistani universities and educational institutes are facing a halt in the renewal of their visas.
Channel "Tolo News" reported that students have submitted extension requests for the past four months, but the Pakistani government has not issued them visas yet, while Afghan officials stated that thousands of families have returned to Kabul across the border between the two countries, despite the devastating earthquake that struck eastern provinces of Afghanistan in recent days.
