أعلن وزير الدفاع الإسرائيلي يسرائيل كاتس، اليوم (الأحد)، مقتل المتحدث باسم كتائب القسام، الجناح العسكري لحركة حماس حذيفة الكحلوت المكنى «أبو عبيدة»، في قصف لشقته بمدينة غزة، رغم عدم إعلان أو تأكيد «حماس» لذلك.
وأرجع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، عدم إعلان حماس إلى عدم وجود متحدث جديد بعد مقتل «أبو عبيدة»، مؤكداً قُبيل اجتماع الحكومة أن الجيش استهدف «أبو عبيدة» وينتظر نتائج الهجوم، وفقاً لموقع «واللا» الإخباري الإسرائيلي.
وأشار إلى أن استهداف أبو عبيدة تم في عملية مشتركة نفذها الجيش وجهاز المخابرات الداخلي (الشاباك)، مضيفاً: «ما زلنا لا نعرف النتيجة النهائية، وآمل أنه لم يعد معنا».
وكانت «القناة 12» الإسرائيلية الخاصة قد قالت إن لدى إسرائيل مؤشرات تفيد بأن أبو عبيدة تمت تصفيته بالفعل، لكن في هذه المرحلة لا يوجد تأكيد نهائي، في حين ذكرت «القناة 14» الإسرائيلية أنه تم في إسرائيل تأكيد تصفية أبو عبيدة نهائياً خلال غارة لقواتنا في قطاع غزة داخل مبنى قرب مخبز في حي الرمال بمدينة غزة.
وكانت مصادر أمنية إسرائيلية قد قالت إن هناك تزايداً للتقديرات بنجاح اغتيال أبو عبيدة، ومن المتوقع صدور إعلان رسمي بهذا الشأن قريبا وبحسب موقع «واللا» العبري، فإن هذه هي المرة الثالثة منذ بداية الحرب التي تحاول فيها إسرائيل اغتياله رغم أنها فشلت المرات السابقة، ويبدو أن هذه المرة العملية نجحت.
وذكر المصدر أن المتحدث باسم كتائب القسام اختفى منذ بداية الحرب، وحافظ على مستوى عزلة أعلى من يحيى السنوار، لكنه خرج الآن من مخبئه وانكشف أمره.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributed Hamas's silence to the lack of a new spokesperson following the death of "Abu Ubaida," affirming just before the government meeting that the army targeted "Abu Ubaida" and is awaiting the results of the attack, according to the Israeli news site "Walla."
He noted that the targeting of Abu Ubaida was part of a joint operation carried out by the army and the internal intelligence agency (Shabak), adding: "We still do not know the final result, and I hope he is no longer with us."
The private Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israel has indications suggesting that Abu Ubaida has indeed been eliminated, but at this stage, there is no final confirmation. Meanwhile, Israeli Channel 14 stated that confirmation of Abu Ubaida's elimination has been finalized during an operation by our forces in the Gaza Strip inside a building near a bakery in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City.
