أتلف مشروع مسام لنزع الألغام في اليمن اليوم (الخميس) 6383 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة من مخلفات الحرب في محافظة أبين وسط اليمن، وبحسب المكتب الإعلامي للمشروع فإنه جرى تدمير هذه الكمية الكبيرة بعيداً عن أي تجمعات للمدنيين.
وأفاد بيان صادر عن المكتب الإعلامي لمشروع مسام بأن فريق المهمات الخاصة الأولى نفذ عملية الإتلاف اليوم في وادي دوفس، بمديرية زنجبار التابعة لمحافظة أبين، ضمن جهوده المستمرة لتعزيز الأمن المجتمعي وحماية أرواح المدنيين، موضحاً أن الكمية التي جرى إتلافها تشمل: 222 قذيفة متنوعة، و523 فيوزاً متنوعاً، و5551 طلقة متنوعة، و17 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد، و6 ألغام مضادة للدبابات، و36 قنبلة متنوعة، و28 صاروخاً طوربيد بحري.
وقال قائد فريق المهمات الخاصة الأول، منذر أحمد قاسم، إن العملية نُفذت بنجاح في منطقة آمنة، بعيدة عن التجمعات السكنية والمناطق الزراعية، مع الالتزام الكامل بالمعايير الدولية رغم التحديات الميدانية، مضيفاً: «عمل فرق المهمات الخاصة لا يتوقف طوال العام، نظراً لأهمية مهماتنا في حماية حياة المواطنين الأبرياء».
ويواصل مشروع «مسام» تنفيذ مهماته الإنسانية في مختلف المحافظات اليمنية التي تعاني من انتشار الألغام ومخلفات الحرب، في سبيل تطهير الأراضي وضمان عودة الحياة بأمان إلى المجتمعات المحلية.
ونجح مشروع مسام منذ انطلاقته وحتى الآن في انتزاع أكثر من 511,355 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة من مختلف الأراضي اليمنية، وتمكن من تطهير 69,500,524 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي.
The Masam project for mine clearance in Yemen today (Thursday) destroyed 6,383 mines and unexploded ordnance from the remnants of war in Abyan Governorate in central Yemen. According to the project's media office, this large quantity was destroyed away from any civilian gatherings.
A statement issued by the media office of the Masam project indicated that the first special operations team carried out the destruction operation today in Wadi Dofas, in the Zinjibar district of Abyan Governorate, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance community security and protect the lives of civilians. It clarified that the quantity destroyed included: 222 assorted shells, 523 assorted fuses, 5,551 assorted bullets, 17 anti-personnel mines, 6 anti-tank mines, 36 assorted bombs, and 28 naval torpedoes.
The leader of the first special operations team, Munther Ahmed Qassem, stated that the operation was successfully carried out in a safe area, far from residential clusters and agricultural zones, with full adherence to international standards despite field challenges. He added, "The work of the special operations teams does not stop throughout the year, given the importance of our missions in protecting the lives of innocent citizens."
The Masam project continues to carry out its humanitarian missions in various Yemeni governorates suffering from the spread of mines and remnants of war, in order to clear the land and ensure the safe return of life to local communities.
The Masam project has successfully removed more than 511,355 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices from various Yemeni territories since its inception, and has managed to clear 69,500,524 square meters of land.
