إسرائيل تخفض العلاقات الدبلوماسية مع البرازيل

The Israeli Foreign Ministry is moving to downgrade its diplomatic relations with Brazil, stating that the South American country has refused to approve the credentials of the Israeli ambassador in Brasília, according to a report by the "Times of Israel" today (Tuesday).

The Israeli Foreign Ministry mentioned in a statement issued last night (Monday) that after Brazil unusually refrained from responding to Ambassador Galit Dagan's request for approval, Israel withdrew the request, and relations between the two countries are currently being managed at a lower diplomatic level. The statement added that the Foreign Ministry continues to maintain deep relations with many circles of friends of Israel in Brazil.

It is worth noting that Brazilian authorities summoned their ambassador to Israel last May, according to a diplomatic source, indicating that they would not appoint a replacement for him immediately.

The Brazilian ambassador to Israel, Frederico Meyer, was initially summoned for consultations with his government after Brazil and Israel exchanged harsh statements in February regarding the conflict. The source said, "There were no conditions for his return" to Israel.

The special advisor to Brazilian President Celso Amorim announced that Frederico Meyer would not return to Tel Aviv.

These developments come in the wake of strained relations between Brazil and Israel against the backdrop of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, as the Brazilian president has consistently accused Israel of committing "genocide" against the Palestinians in the besieged territory.
