قُبيل زيارة مرتقبة غداً إلى بيروت، وصل المبعوث الأمريكي توم براك اليوم (الأحد) إلى تل أبيب لعقد لقاء مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو.
وذكرت 3 مصادر إسرائيلية وأمريكية أن براك حمل في جعبته طلباً من إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بكبح الضربات الإسرائيلية في لبنان، ورسالة حول المفاوضات مع سورية، مبينة أن براك التقى، عقب وصوله تل أبيب، وزير الشؤون الاستراتيجية الإسرائيلي رون ديرمر، ووزير الخارجية جدعون ساعر، ووزير الدفاع يسرائيل كاتس، وفقاً لما نقله موقع «أكسيوس».
ودفعت إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي نحو تنفيذ ترتيبات أمنية جديدة بين إسرائيل ولبنان، وبين إسرائيل وسورية، كخطوة أولى باتجاه تطبيع محتمل للعلاقات في المستقبل. ووفقاً لمسؤولين أمريكيين فإنه في ضوء الحرب المستمرة في غزة، لدى إسرائيل مصلحة في تهدئة الوضع على حدودها مع سورية ولبنان، والتوصل إلى اتفاقات جديدة مع كلا البلدين.
وكان وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد الشيباني قد التقى الأسبوع الماضي في باريس ديرمر لمناقشة الانتهاكات الإسرائيلية في الجنوب السوري.
ويترقب اللبنانيون أن يحمل براك الرد الإسرائيلي على التعديلات التي أدخلها الجانب اللبناني على الورقة الأمريكية التي قدمت سابقاً من أجل تثبيت وقف إطلاق النار بين البلدين، وحصر السلاح بيد الدولة.
وكان الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون قد قال أمس إن بلاده تنتظر رداً إسرائيلياً على المقترح الأمريكي، مؤكداً أن لبنان لم يتبلغ رسمياً بأي شيء مما تم تداوله في الإعلام حول نية إسرائيل إقامة منطقة عازلة في الجنوب.
Ahead of a scheduled visit tomorrow to Beirut, U.S. envoy Tom Barak arrived in Tel Aviv today (Sunday) for a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Three Israeli and American sources reported that Barak brought with him a request from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to restrain Israeli strikes in Lebanon, as well as a message regarding negotiations with Syria. It was noted that Barak met, upon his arrival in Tel Aviv, with Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Foreign Minister Gidon Sa'ar, and Defense Minister Israel Katz, according to what was reported by Axios.
The U.S. administration has pushed for the implementation of new security arrangements between Israel and Lebanon, and between Israel and Syria, as a first step towards potential normalization of relations in the future. According to American officials, in light of the ongoing war in Gaza, Israel has an interest in calming the situation along its borders with Syria and Lebanon and reaching new agreements with both countries.
Syria's Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shabani met last week in Paris with Dermer to discuss Israeli violations in southern Syria.
Lebanese people are awaiting Barak's delivery of the Israeli response to the amendments made by the Lebanese side to the American paper previously presented to establish a ceasefire between the two countries and to limit weapons to the state.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated yesterday that his country is awaiting an Israeli response to the American proposal, confirming that Lebanon has not been officially informed of anything that has been circulated in the media regarding Israel's intention to establish a buffer zone in the south.
