أعلن الرئيس اللبناني، جوزيف عون، اليوم (السبت)، أن بلاده تنتظر رداً إسرائيلياً على المقترح الأمريكي، مؤكداً أن لبنان لم يتبلغ رسمياً بأي شيء مما تم تداوله في الإعلام حول نية إسرائيل إقامة منطقة عازلة في الجنوب.
وأوضح الرئيس اللبناني، خلال استقباله عضو الكونغرس الأمريكي دارين لحود، أن لبنان بانتظار ما سيحمله السفير براك ومورغان أورتيغوس من رد إسرائيلي على الورقة المقترحات، مشدداً على أهمية التجديد لقوات «اليونيفيل» في الجنوب، إلى حين تطبيق القرار 1701 كاملاً، بما يشمل انسحاب إسرائيل من الأراضي التي لا تزال تحتلها، وإعادة الأسرى، واستكمال انتشار الجيش اللبناني حتى الحدود المعترف بها دولياً.
من جهته، هنّأ عضو الكونغرس الأمريكي، دارين لحود، الرئيس عون على قرار الحكومة اللبنانية حصر السلاح بيد الدولة، مؤكداً جهوزية الإدارة الأمريكية لدعم لبنان في مسعاه لتحقيق الاستقرار والنهوض الاقتصادي.
ولا يزال قرار الحكومة اللبنانية بتكليف الجيش بإعداد خطة لحصر السلاح في يد الدولة يتصدر الاتصالات واللقاءات السياسية في البلاد.
وفي هذا السياق، ناقش أندريه رحال، مستشار الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون، مع رئيس كتلة الوفاء للمقاومة (كتلة نواب حزب الله) النائب محمد رعد، اليوم، الأوضاع السياسية الراهنة ومجريات الأمور ومواقف الأطراف المعنية إزاءها.
وبحسب مصادر سياسية، فإن الهدف من الاجتماع هو استكمال التواصل بعد جلسة مجلس الوزراء وقرار حصر السلاح.
وكشفت المصادر أن مستشار الرئيس لم ينقل أي تطمينات إلى «حزب الله»، مشيرة إلى أن الرئاسة اللبنانية، كما سائر الأطراف، تنتظر الرد الإسرائيلي على الملاحظات التي وضعها لبنان ضمن الورقة الأمريكية.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced today (Saturday) that his country is awaiting an Israeli response to the American proposal, emphasizing that Lebanon has not officially been informed of anything that has been circulated in the media regarding Israel's intention to establish a buffer zone in the south.
The Lebanese president clarified, during his meeting with U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood, that Lebanon is waiting for what Ambassador Brack and Morgan Ortagus will bring as an Israeli response to the proposal paper, stressing the importance of renewing the mandate for the UNIFIL forces in the south, until the full implementation of Resolution 1701, which includes Israel's withdrawal from the territories it still occupies, the release of prisoners, and the completion of the Lebanese army's deployment to the internationally recognized borders.
For his part, U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood congratulated President Aoun on the Lebanese government's decision to restrict weapons to the state, affirming the U.S. administration's readiness to support Lebanon in its efforts to achieve stability and economic recovery.
The Lebanese government's decision to task the army with preparing a plan to restrict weapons to the state continues to dominate political communications and meetings in the country.
In this context, André Rahhal, advisor to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, discussed today the current political situation and the developments with the head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc (the Hezbollah parliamentary bloc), MP Mohammad Raad.
According to political sources, the aim of the meeting is to continue communication following the Cabinet session and the decision to restrict weapons.
The sources revealed that the president's advisor did not convey any reassurances to Hezbollah, indicating that the Lebanese presidency, like other parties, is awaiting the Israeli response to the observations that Lebanon included in the American paper.
