وبينما قدّر معهد دراسات الحرب الأمريكي أن استكمال السيطرة الروسية على دونيتسك قد يستغرق سنوات، رأت موسكو أن خريطة ترمب تعكس واقعاً ميدانياً لا يمكن إنكاره، حيث وصفت المتحدثة ماريا زاخاروفا الخطوة بأنها «صفعة قوية» لزيلينسكي وحلفائه الغربيين، ما يجعل من الخريطة ورقة ضغط جديدة في مسار المفاوضات القادمة.

The map, which showed vast areas in red under Russian control, carried a direct message that these lands were lost, and that the time had come to seek a political settlement to end the war that has been ongoing for more than two years.
The scene was not without a notable confrontation, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took the initiative to present his own map to prove that his forces remained on the front lines. However, Trump emphasized that Moscow had become stronger and had not stopped advancing. White House data supported this claim, confirming that Russia controls 79% of Donbas, 99% of Luhansk, and 76% of Donetsk, in addition to vast areas of Zaporizhia and Kherson.
While the American Institute of War Studies estimated that the completion of Russian control over Donetsk could take years, Moscow viewed Trump's map as reflecting an undeniable battlefield reality, with spokesperson Maria Zakharova describing the step as a "strong slap" to Zelensky and his Western allies, making the map a new pressure tool in the upcoming negotiations.
