مصر تُطالب إسرائيل بقبول مقترح وقف إطلاق النار في غزة

Egypt has urged Israel to accept the deal that Hamas agreed to based on the proposal from U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, in order to quickly reach a ceasefire in Gaza, allow humanitarian aid, and release hostages and a number of Palestinian prisoners.

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement today (Wednesday) that the U.S. proposal contributes to establishing security and stability and reviving the path towards a comprehensive settlement based on the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy references and resolutions.

The statement reiterated Egypt's readiness to continue its contributions in cooperation with regional and international parties, led by the United States, in a constructive manner to support paths aimed at establishing international peace and security, with a view to enhancing regional and international security and stability.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry praised recent international efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful settlement to the Ukrainian crisis, including the efforts made by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the crisis and put an end to military operations and their negative repercussions.

In this context, Egypt welcomed the convening of the U.S.-Russian summit in Alaska on August 15, and the meeting between the U.S. President and his Ukrainian counterpart along with several European leaders in Washington on August 18.

Egypt expressed its hope that the international community would also continue its efforts in the Middle East to resolve the Palestinian issue decisively and finally.

It emphasized that efforts to reach a peaceful settlement to the Ukrainian crisis are fully consistent with the position and directions of the Egyptian state, which calls for promoting political and diplomatic solutions to international crises, asserting that there are no military solutions to this prolonged crisis, and that the only way forward lies in continuing serious negotiations, demonstrating the necessary political flexibility, and adhering to the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

It expressed hope that these efforts would lead to the end of the war as soon as possible, considering the serious political, security, humanitarian, and economic repercussions that have severely affected developing countries and have faced increasing pressures as a result of the war, particularly regarding food security.
