أعلنت وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين السورية أمس (الثلاثاء) أن اللقاء الذي جرى بين الوزير أسعد الشيباني ووفد إسرائيلي ليل أمس بالعاصمة الفرنسية باريس، ناقش عدداً من الملفات المرتبطة بتعزيز الاستقرار في المنطقة والجنوب السوري.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء السورية عن بيان لوزارة الخارجية تأكيدها أن اللقاء تركز على النقاشات حول خفض التصعيد وعدم التدخل بالشأن السوري الداخلي، والتوصل لتفاهمات تدعم الاستقرار في المنطقة، ومراقبة وقف إطلاق النار في محافظة السويداء، وإعادة تفعيل اتفاق 1974، مبينة أن هذه النقاشات تجرى بوساطة أمريكية، في إطار الجهود الدبلوماسية الرامية إلى تعزيز الأمن والاستقرار في سورية والحفاظ على وحدة وسلامة أراضيها.
وكان الوزير الشيباني التقى في عمّان في الـ12 من الشهر الجاري نظيره الأردني أيمن الصفدي، والمبعوث الخاص للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية إلى سورية توم براك، وجرى خلال اللقاء بحث سبل تعزيز التعاون والتنسيق بين الأطراف الثلاثة، بما يخدم استقرار سورية وسيادتها وأمنها الإقليمي، والاتفاق على تشكيل مجموعة عمل سورية-أردنية-أمريكية لدعم جهود الحكومة السورية في تعزيز وقف إطلاق النار في محافظة السويداء، والعمل على إيجاد حل شامل للأزمة.
وكان موقع «آكسيوس» قد ذكر أن اللقاء جمع وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد الشيباني، والمبعوث الأمريكي إلى سورية توم براك، ووزير الشؤون الإستراتيجية الإسرائيلي رون ديرمر.
وذكرت مصادر إسرائيلية لموقع «آكسيوس» أن الطرفين كانا يعتزمان الاتفاق على فرض الأمن في جنوب سورية ووقف إطلاق النار، وبحسب الموقع فإن إدارة ترمب تحاول التوسط بين إسرائيل وسورية للتوصل إلى اتفاق بشأن إنشاء ممر إنساني من إسرائيل إلى مدينة السويداء جنوب سورية، لتقديم المساعدات.
وكان من المقرر عقد هذا الاجتماع الأسبوع الماضي، ولكن تم تأجيله في اللحظة الأخيرة، وستكون هذه هي المرة الثانية خلال شهر التي يلتقي فيها ديرمر والشيباني برعاية أمريكية، بعد ما يقرب من 25 عاماً من انقطاع دبلوماسي شبه كامل بين البلدين.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced yesterday (Tuesday) that the meeting held between Minister Asaad Al-Shibani and an Israeli delegation last night in the French capital, Paris, discussed several files related to enhancing stability in the region and southern Syria.
The Syrian news agency reported a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming that the meeting focused on discussions about de-escalation, non-interference in Syrian internal affairs, reaching understandings that support stability in the region, monitoring the ceasefire in the Sweida Governorate, and reactivating the 1974 agreement. It indicated that these discussions are taking place with American mediation, as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in Syria and preserving its territorial integrity and unity.
Minister Al-Shibani had met in Amman on the 12th of this month with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi and the U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Brack. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination among the three parties, serving Syria's stability, sovereignty, and regional security, and agreed to form a Syrian-Jordanian-American working group to support the Syrian government's efforts in reinforcing the ceasefire in the Sweida Governorate and working towards a comprehensive solution to the crisis.
The Axios website mentioned that the meeting brought together Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani, U.S. Envoy to Syria Tom Brack, and Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.
Israeli sources told Axios that the two sides intended to agree on enforcing security in southern Syria and establishing a ceasefire. According to the site, the Trump administration is attempting to mediate between Israel and Syria to reach an agreement on establishing a humanitarian corridor from Israel to the city of Sweida in southern Syria to provide aid.
This meeting was originally scheduled for last week but was postponed at the last minute. This will be the second time within a month that Dermer and Al-Shibani meet under American auspices, after nearly 25 years of near-total diplomatic rupture between the two countries.
