أكد مسؤولان نيجيريان اليوم (الثلاثاء) مقتل ما لا يقل عن 27 شخصاً وإصابة آخرين جراء اقتحام مسلحين مسجداً في ولاية كاتسينا شمال نيجيريا أثناء صلاة الفجر.
وذكر سكان أن مسلحين أطلقوا النار داخل مسجد حوالى الساعة 4:00 فجراً بتوقيت غرينتش في إحدى القرى النائية التابعة لمنطقة مالومفاشي، مبينين أن العملية حدثت أثناء صلاة الفجر.
وتشهد مناطق وسط نيجيريا هجمات مماثلة بشكل متكرر، وتزايدت وتيرتها الفترات الأخيرة، بعد أن تراجع الأمن بسبب نشاط الجماعات الإرهابية، ورغم تنفيذ الجيش والقوات الأمنية عمليات عسكرية مضادة بانتظام، إلا أنهم لا يزالون يواجهون صعوبات كبيرة في احتواء موجات العنف المتزايد في المنطقة.
وكان هجوم مسلح قد وقع الشهر الماضي على مجتمع محلي في ولاية بينو النيجيرية وأسفر عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 102 شخص، وفقاً لما صرح به مسؤولون محليون وشهود عيان.
وأفادت المصادر أن الهجوم استهدف قرية يليواتا في منطقة غوما الحكومية بولاية بينو، مبينة أن الهجوم تسبب أيضاً بإصابة نحو 100 آخرين.
Two Nigerian officials confirmed today (Tuesday) that at least 27 people were killed and others injured due to an attack by armed men on a mosque in Katsina State, northern Nigeria, during the dawn prayer.
Residents reported that the gunmen opened fire inside the mosque around 4:00 AM GMT in one of the remote villages belonging to the Malumfashi area, indicating that the incident occurred during the dawn prayer.
Central Nigeria has been experiencing similar attacks repeatedly, with an increase in their frequency in recent times, as security has deteriorated due to the activities of terrorist groups. Despite the military and security forces regularly conducting counter-military operations, they still face significant challenges in containing the rising waves of violence in the region.
A previous armed attack occurred last month on a local community in Benue State, Nigeria, resulting in the deaths of at least 102 people, according to local officials and eyewitnesses.
Sources reported that the attack targeted the village of Yeliwata in the Guma local government area of Benue State, indicating that the attack also resulted in injuries to around 100 others.
