In the first response to Ukrainian President Zelensky's announcement of his readiness to meet with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin without conditions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that careful preparation is necessary for any communications that may occur between the leaders regarding Ukraine.

Lavrov stated in an interview with "Russia 24" today (Tuesday): "U.S. President Donald Trump and his team have been engaging more deeply with the Ukrainian settlement following the Alaska summit."

He added that after the Alaska meeting, President Trump and his team adopted a deeper approach to resolving the crisis, recognizing the need to eliminate the root causes that Russian President Vladimir Putin has consistently mentioned.

He confirmed that a positive atmosphere prevailed at the Alaska summit, as reflected in the statements made by Presidents Putin and Trump after the talks, which were undoubtedly beneficial. He noted that it is clear that the U.S. President and his team are sincerely striving for a long-term, sustainable, and reliable outcome.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met at the "Elmendorf-Richardson" base in Alaska, with the meeting lasting more than three hours.

Putin announced at a press conference following the summit that the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict was the main topic of the summit, calling for cooperation.

For his part, Trump announced progress in the talks but noted that the two sides had not reached an agreement on all points. The U.S. President and his Ukrainian counterpart, along with European leaders, held a meeting in Washington yesterday (Monday). The meeting focused on the security guarantees that Kyiv is demanding in any peace agreement to end the war that began with the Russian invasion at the beginning of 2022.

On the sidelines of the U.S.-European meeting, Trump had a phone call with Putin, during which the latter informed him of his readiness to meet with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. If this summit takes place, it will be the first between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents since the start of the war.

Ukraine's allies discussed the next steps and the outcomes of the talks that Trump held at the White House with the Ukrainian president and European leaders, following the U.S. President's confirmation that he would begin preparations to bring together his counterparts Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin in a summit hoped to lead to peace between Moscow and Kyiv.
