وصفته بـ«الفردي».. هولندا تعتذر لمصر عن الاعتداء على «السفارة»

The Dutch Foreign Minister, Kasper Veldkamp, apologized to Egypt for the incident of the attack on the Egyptian embassy in The Hague, expressing his deep regret over the incident, which he described as "isolated."

This came during a phone call the Dutch Foreign Minister had with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, today (Tuesday), according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Dutch Foreign Minister indicated that he had discussed the matter with the relevant security authorities and their intention to intensify security measures at the Egyptian embassy in line with the responsibilities that fall on the host country under the relevant international agreements.

He emphasized the close relations that bind his country to Egypt, which are based on mutual respect and common interests, and the work to elevate bilateral relations in various fields, especially in the economic, commercial, and investment sectors, and to enhance cooperation in different sectors for the benefit of both peoples.

During the call, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on the developments in the Gaza Strip.

The ministers also exchanged views regarding the developments in the Middle East, particularly the catastrophic situation in Gaza, where the Egyptian Minister Abdel Aati confirmed to his Dutch counterpart the continuation of intensive Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire that ensures an end to hostilities, the unrestricted entry of aid, the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners, and Hamas's agreement to the majority of the items included in the proposal by U.S. envoy Steve Wietkoff, as well as the importance of the Israeli side's approval of this proposal.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed his visit to the Rafah crossing yesterday (Monday) with the Palestinian Prime Minister, who is working around the clock from the Egyptian side, and the importance of pressuring the Israeli side to open the crossings that connect Israel to the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister requested his Dutch counterpart to leverage the Netherlands' role within the corridors of the European Union to stop the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, and in this context, he reviewed the ongoing preparations for Egypt to host the international conference for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza as soon as a ceasefire agreement is reached.

For his part, the Dutch minister praised Egypt's positive role in working towards reaching a deal to ensure a ceasefire, the flow of aid, and support for the Palestinian people in facing their current plight.
