اقترح الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون، خلال محادثات السلام مع الرئيسين الأمريكي دونالد ترمب والأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي وقادة آخرين بالاتحاد الأوروبي أمس (الإثنين)، عقد اجتماع رباعي في المستقبل حول أوكرانيا يضم أوروبا.
وقال إن فكرة عقد اجتماع ثلاثي، يضم الولايات المتحدة وروسيا وأوكرانيا، «مهمة جداً، لأن هذه هي الطريقة الوحيدة لإصلاح الأمر»، مقترحاً أن تشارك أوروبا أيضاً، دون أن يحدد من الذي يجب أن يتحدث باسم القارة.
وأضاف ماكرون: «سنحتاج إلى الاجتماع الرباعي، لأننا عندما نتحدث عن الضمانات الأمنية فإننا نتحدث عن أمن القارة الأوروبية بأكملها».
وحضر الاجتماع أمس في البيت الأبيض أيضاً قادة بريطانيا وألمانيا وإيطاليا وفنلندا والاتحاد الأوروبي وحلف شمال الأطلسي.
French President Emmanuel Macron suggested during peace talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and other European Union leaders yesterday (Monday) to hold a future quadrilateral meeting regarding Ukraine that includes Europe.
He stated that the idea of holding a trilateral meeting involving the United States, Russia, and Ukraine is "very important, because this is the only way to fix the matter," proposing that Europe should also participate, without specifying who should speak on behalf of the continent.
Macron added: "We will need the quadrilateral meeting, because when we talk about security guarantees, we are talking about the security of the entire European continent."
Leaders from Britain, Germany, Italy, Finland, the European Union, and NATO also attended the meeting yesterday at the White House.
