في مواجهة التقدم الروسي، أرسلت القوات المسلحة الأوكرانية تعزيزات عسكرية إلى جبهة الشرق، قبيل ساعات من قمة ألاسكا.
وأعلن الرئيس فلوديمير زيلينسكي، اليوم (الجمعة)، أن جيشه سيرسل تعزيزات إلى شرق أوكرانيا، حيث حققت القوات الروسية تقدماً سريعاً باتّجاه بلدة دوبروبيليا التي تعد مركزاً للتعدين.
وقال على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي قبل ساعات من القمة بين الرئيسين الأمريكي والروسي لبحث الحرب: «اتخذت اليوم قراراً بإرسال مزيد من التعزيزات إلى هذه المنطقة وغيرها في منطقة دونيتسك».
وأضاف أن الجيش الروسي تكبد خسائر كبيرة في محاولاته لضمان وضع سياسي أفضل للقيادة الروسية في اجتماع ألاسكا.
ودعا الرئيس الأوكراني نظيره الأمريكي إلى إقناع روسيا بوقف عمليتها العسكرية في أوكرانيا خلال القمة المرتقبة مع بوتين.
وقال زيلينسكي في منشور على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي: «حان الوقت لإنهاء الحرب. ينبغي على روسيا اتخاذ الخطوات اللازمة. نعتمد على أمريكا».
وكان القائد السابق لهيئة أركان كتيبة «آزوف» النخبوية بوهدان كروتيفيتش حذر من تدهور خطير في الوضع الميداني للقوات الأوكرانية في دونباس.
وفي رسالة مفتوحة وجّهها إلى الرئيس فولوديمير زيلينسكي في 11 أغسطس، وصف كروتيفيتش خط بوكروفسك – كونستانتينيفكا بأنه «كارثة كاملة» تتفاقم منذ فترة طويلة، محذراً من أن بوكروفسك أصبحت بالفعل تحت الحصار، بينما تواجه كونستانتينيفكا شبه تطويق. وأرفق خريطة زعم أنها تعكس الواقع الميداني الدقيق، ونقلتها مجلة «مليتري ووتش» المتخصصة بالشؤون العسكرية.
وعزا كروتيفيتش الأزمة الميدانية الحادة إلى جملة من المشكلات الهيكلية المزمنة التي تعاني منها القوات الأوكرانية، أبرزها استنزاف القوى البشرية والمعدات دون تعويض كاف، وتشرذم الوحدات على امتداد الجبهة، والترويج لمكاسب محدودة مثل السيطرة على قرية، رغم الفشل في جبهات عملياتية واسعة. وهاجم بعض القيادات العسكرية للرؤية الاستراتيجية والعملياتية الواضحة.

In response to the Russian advance, the Ukrainian armed forces sent military reinforcements to the eastern front, just hours before the Alaska summit.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today (Friday) that his army will send reinforcements to eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces have made rapid progress towards the town of Dobropillia, which is a mining center.
He stated on social media just hours before the summit between the American and Russian presidents to discuss the war: "I made the decision today to send more reinforcements to this area and others in the Donetsk region."
He added that the Russian army has suffered significant losses in its attempts to secure a better political position for the Russian leadership at the Alaska meeting.
The Ukrainian president urged his American counterpart to convince Russia to halt its military operation in Ukraine during the upcoming summit with Putin.
Zelensky said in a social media post: "It is time to end the war. Russia must take the necessary steps. We rely on America."
The former commander of the elite Azov Battalion, Bohdan Krutivych, warned of a serious deterioration in the battlefield situation for Ukrainian forces in Donbas.
In an open letter addressed to President Volodymyr Zelensky on August 11, Krutivych described the Pokrovsk – Konstantynivka line as a "complete disaster" that has been worsening for a long time, warning that Pokrovsk is already under siege, while Konstantynivka is facing near encirclement. He attached a map that he claimed reflects the accurate battlefield reality, which was published by the military affairs magazine "Military Watch."
Krutivych attributed the acute battlefield crisis to a number of chronic structural problems faced by Ukrainian forces, most notably the depletion of manpower and equipment without adequate replacement, the fragmentation of units along the front, and the promotion of limited gains such as capturing a village, despite failures on broader operational fronts. He criticized some military leaders for their lack of a clear strategic and operational vision.
