Sources in Syria have announced that a new humanitarian aid convoy has departed from the Syrian capital, Damascus, to the Daraa Governorate, in preparation for its entry into the Suwayda Governorate in the south of the country.
It was reported that the convoy consists of 30 trucks loaded with food and relief supplies, and it will enter Suwayda through the humanitarian corridor of Busra al-Sham under the supervision of the Syrian Red Crescent and the United Nations.
This step comes amid a ceasefire that has been in effect in the governorate since July 19, following armed clashes that lasted a week between Druze armed groups and Bedouin tribes, resulting in 426 fatalities, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights.
Despite the Syrian government's announcement of four consecutive ceasefire agreements, three of them quickly collapsed, especially after accusations against a group affiliated with Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri - one of the Druze community leaders in Suwayda - of displacing members of Bedouin tribes and committing violations against them.
The new Syrian administration, which took power after the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, is seeking to impose stability and maintain security in various regions of the country.
For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Justice published a video yesterday (Thursday) showing part of the ongoing investigations with several prominent figures in Bashar al-Assad's regime, while they are being confronted with the charges against them.
Among the figures that appeared in the video were former Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim al-Shaar, former Director of Air Force Intelligence Ibrahim Hweijeh, and Atef Najib, Bashar al-Assad's cousin and former head of political security in Daraa, nicknamed "the nail puller."
Former Mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun was also seen giving his testimony.
In the video broadcast by the ministry on its platforms on social media titled "Investigations Under the Umbrella of Justice" with detainees who were once part of the decision-makers during the ousted regime, these figures are shown appearing before an investigative judge who confronts them with the charges against them regarding the violations they committed against civilians over the past 14 years.
According to the video, the mentioned individuals face charges including premeditated murder, torture leading to death, acts aimed at inciting civil war, incitement, participation, and involvement in murder operations.
