طالب الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي اليوم (الخميس) بمشاركة أوروبا في عملية السلام بين بلاده وروسيا، موضحاً أن كييف ستكون على النهج نفسه في أي اجتماع.
وقال زيلينسكي خلال اتصال هاتفي مع المستشار الألماني فريدريش ميرتس: «يجب أن تشارك أوروبا في عملية السلام مع روسيا»، مضيفاً: «أوكرانيا لا تخشى الاجتماعات، وتتوقع نفس النهج الشجاع من الجانب الروسي».
بدوره، قال متحدث باسم المستشار الألماني في بيان إن ميرتس اتصل بالرئيس الأوكراني لمناقشة التطورات بعد لقاء المبعوث الأمريكي الخاص ستيف ويتكوف بالرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين بشأن الحرب في أوكرانيا، مضيفاً: «اتفق الطرفان على الحفاظ على التواصل الوثيق مع الشركاء الأوروبيين والولايات المتحدة».
وأكد ميرتس لزيلينسكي استمرار دعمه، رغم أن الجانبين لم يتحدثا عن أي تفاصيل جديدة حول اللقاءات التي يتوقع أن تجرى منتصف الأسبوع القادم بين الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب والرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين من جهة والرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي.
في الوقت ذاته، قال زيلينسكي إنه تحدث مع الرئيس الفرنسي والرئيس الألباني، كلاً على حده، وأطلعهم على نتائج اتصالاته مع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
وقال زيلينسكي: «أطلعت الرئيس الألباني بإيجاز على الوضع على الجبهة وعلى الصعيد الدبلوماسي، ونعمل مع جميع شركائنا لإنهاء هذه الحرب ووقف المجازر في أسرع وقت ممكن».
وأضاف: «ناقشنا الاستعدادات لاجتماعات في أهم المحافل الدولية، وستكون هذه اجتماعات خاصة مع الشركاء، سنبذل قصارى جهدنا لحماية شعبنا».
ولفت إلى أنه أطلع الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون على وجهة نظر أوكرانيا بشأن محادثات أمس مع الرئيس ترمب والأوروبيين، موضحاً أنهم ينسقون مواقفهم.
وشدد زيلينسكي على ضرورة وجود رؤية أوروبية مشتركة بشأن القضايا الأمنية الرئيسية لأوروبا، سواء الآن أو على المدى البعيد، مؤكداً ضرورة أن يتم الوصول إلى وقف إطلاق نار حقيقي وبلاده مستعدة لذلك.
وأوضح الرئيس الأوكراني أنه لم يصدر أي رد فعل علني واضح من روسيا حتى الآن، لكنه سيُظهر المستقبل القريب.
وكانت رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية أورسولا فون دير لاين قد قالت في وقت سابق اليوم إنها تحدثت مع زيلينسكي حول التطورات التي شهدتها الأيام الماضية والخطوات التالية، موضحة أنها ناقشت مع زيلينسكي الخطوات التالية في الطريق نحو اتفاق سلام تفاوضي وعضوية أوكرانيا المستقبلية في الاتحاد الأوروبي وكذلك إعادة إعمارها.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called today (Thursday) for Europe to participate in the peace process between his country and Russia, clarifying that Kyiv will follow the same approach in any meeting.
Zelensky stated during a phone call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: “Europe must participate in the peace process with Russia,” adding: “Ukraine is not afraid of meetings and expects the same brave approach from the Russian side.”
For his part, a spokesperson for the German Chancellor said in a statement that Merz contacted the Ukrainian president to discuss developments following the meeting of U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the war in Ukraine, adding: “Both sides agreed to maintain close communication with European partners and the United States.”
Merz assured Zelensky of his continued support, although the two sides did not discuss any new details regarding the meetings expected to take place mid-next week between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on one side and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the other.
At the same time, Zelensky mentioned that he spoke with the French president and the Albanian president, each separately, and informed them about the results of his communications with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Zelensky said: “I briefed the Albanian president on the situation at the front and on the diplomatic front, and we are working with all our partners to end this war and stop the massacres as soon as possible.”
He added: “We discussed preparations for meetings in the most important international forums, and these will be special meetings with partners; we will do our utmost to protect our people.”
He noted that he informed French President Emmanuel Macron of Ukraine's perspective regarding yesterday's talks with President Trump and the Europeans, clarifying that they are coordinating their positions.
Zelensky emphasized the necessity of having a common European vision regarding the main security issues for Europe, both now and in the long term, stressing the need to reach a real ceasefire and that his country is ready for that.
The Ukrainian president clarified that there has been no clear public reaction from Russia so far, but it will be shown in the near future.
Earlier today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that she spoke with Zelensky about the developments of the past few days and the next steps, explaining that she discussed with Zelensky the next steps towards a negotiated peace agreement and Ukraine's future membership in the European Union as well as its reconstruction.
