أكد رئيس مجلس السيادة قائد الجيش عبدالفتاح البرهان أن المعركة مستمرة حتى تحرير أرض السودان. وقال البرهان من مقر وزارة الداخلية السودانية في الخرطوم، التي وصلها، اليوم (الأربعاء): «نخوض الآن معركة حقيقية من أجل استقرار الأوضاع في البلاد». وأعلن أنه وجّه بضبط حمل السلاح داخل العاصمة الخرطوم. وأكد البرهان أن الجيش لن يتدخل في تفاصيل الحكومة المدنية.
وكانت الأمم المتحدة جددت تحذيراتها من الأوضاع المتردية في السودان جراء الحرب المستمرة بين قوات الجيش والدعم السريع.
وأكدت في بيان أن أطفال الخرطوم الذين يتضوّرون جوعاً باتوا جلداً على عظم، وأن آلاف العائلات العالقة في براثن الحرب قد تموت من الجوع في مدينة الفاشر المحاصرة في غرب البلاد.
ويعاني نحو 40% من الأطفال دون الخامسة من سوء تغذية حاد، من بينهم 11% مصابون بنقص شديد في التغذية، بحسب برنامج الأغذية العالمي.
وأعلنت المنظمة الدولية أنه في ولاية الخرطوم تشتد وطأة سوء التغذية ولم يعد أطفال كثر سوى جلد على عظم، بحسب ما قال شيلدون يت ممثل منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسف) في السودان، الذي يشهد أسوأ أزمة إنسانية حالياً في العالم، بحسب وصف الأمم المتحدة، إذ يعاني نحو 25 مليون شخص من انعدام الأمن الغذائي الحاد.
يتركز الجزء الأكبر من سوء التغذية بنسبة 37% في اثنتين من مدن ولاية الخرطوم السبع، هما العاصمة وجبل أولياء، بحسب «اليونيسف».
وفي مدينة الفاشر، عاصمة ولاية شمال دارفور المحاصرة من قوات الدعم السريع، على بعد ألف كيلومتر من غرب العاصمة، يواجه آلاف الأشخاص خطر مجاعة وشيكاً، بحسب برنامج الأغذية العالمي. وقال المدير الإقليمي لبرنامج الأغذية العالمي في شرق أفريقيا وجنوبها إريك بيرديسون: الجميع يواجه محنة يومية للصمود.
