بعد كندا ومالطا، أعلن مكتب رئيس الوزراء البرتغالي لويس مونتينيغرو اليوم (الخميس)، بأن حكومته ستتشاور مع الرئيس والبرلمان بهدف الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين في الأمم المتحدة في سبتمبر القادم.
وأوضح المكتب في بيان أن البرتغال تدرس الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين في إطار إجراء قد يتم خلال أسبوع انعقاد الدورة الثمانين للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك في سبتمبر القادم.
وكان وزير الخارجية الألماني يوهان فاديفول، قد دعا في وقت سابق اليوم، إلى ضرورة البدء في عملية الاعتراف بدولة فلسطينية من الآن، وذلك قبيل إجراء محادثات في إسرائيل ومع السلطة الفلسطينية اليوم وغداً (الجمعة).
وأوضح أن حل الدولتين التفاوضي يظل هو المسار الوحيد الذي يمكن أن يوفر للشعب على الجانبين حياة مفعمة بالسلام والأمن والكرامة، محذراً في تصريحات لمدونة «برلين بلاي بوك» التابعة لموقع «بوليتيكو» الإخباري، من ضم إسرائيلي محتمل لمناطق فلسطينية.
وسبقه رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني الذي أعلن أمس، أنّ بلاده تعتزم الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين خلال اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك في سبتمبر القادم، موضحاً أن هذا التحوّل في موقف أوتاوا مدفوع بقناعة مزمنة بحلّ الدولتين لإنهاء الصراع الإسرائيلي-الفلسطيني المستمر منذ عقود.
وشدّد رئيس الوزراء على أن قرار كندا يستند إلى رغبة السلطة الفلسطينية في إجراء إصلاحات جوهرية، مشيراً إلى التزام الرئيس محمود عباس إجراء انتخابات عامة في 2026 وعدم تسليح الدولة الفلسطينية.
يذكر أن البرتغال وكندا ومالطا وألمانيا تحذو حذو كل من فرنسا وبريطانيا اللتين أعلنتا أخيراً نيّتهما الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين خلال اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك.

After Canada and Malta, the office of Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro announced today (Thursday) that his government will consult with the president and parliament with the aim of recognizing the State of Palestine at the United Nations next September.
The office clarified in a statement that Portugal is considering recognizing the State of Palestine as part of a process that may take place during the week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York next September.
German Foreign Minister Johan Wadephol had earlier today called for the necessity to begin the process of recognizing a Palestinian state from now, ahead of talks in Israel and with the Palestinian Authority today and tomorrow (Friday).
He explained that the negotiated two-state solution remains the only path that can provide people on both sides with a life filled with peace, security, and dignity, warning in statements to the "Berlin Playbook" blog affiliated with the news site "Politico" against a potential Israeli annexation of Palestinian areas.
He was preceded by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who announced yesterday that his country intends to recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York next September, clarifying that this shift in Ottawa's position is driven by a chronic belief in the two-state solution to end the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Canada's decision is based on the Palestinian Authority's desire to undertake substantial reforms, pointing to President Mahmoud Abbas's commitment to hold general elections in 2026 and not to arm the Palestinian state.
It is noteworthy that Portugal, Canada, Malta, and Germany are following the lead of France and Britain, which recently announced their intention to recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York.
