أكدت المملكة العربية السعودية أن تهديدات مليشيا الحوثي تجاوزت حدود اليمن لتطال أمن الملاحة الدولية والتجارة العالمية، داعية مجلس الأمن إلى تحمل مسؤولياته واتخاذ موقف حازم تجاه الممارسات التي تهدد أمن المنطقة والممرات البحرية.
وقال مندوب المملكة لدى الأمم المتحدة السفير عبدالعزيز الواصل، خلال جلسة مجلس الأمن بشأن اليمن، إن التطورات الراهنة تستدعي تعاملاً مسؤولاً من المجتمع الدولي، في ظل استمرار التصعيد الحوثي وامتداد تداعياته إلى البحر الأحمر ومضيق باب المندب.
وأشار إلى أن استهداف السفن والممرات البحرية لا يمثل تهديداً لدولة بعينها، وإنما يمس أحد أهم الممرات المائية الدولية، بما يحمله ذلك من انعكاسات على حركة التجارة والاقتصاد العالمي.
«عسكرة المضايق» تهديد يتجاوز المنطقة
وحذر الواصل من خطورة تحويل المضايق الدولية إلى أدوات للضغط والابتزاز، مشيراً إلى توجه الحوثيين ومن يقف وراءهم نحو «عسكرة المضايق الدولية» واستخدامها للضغط على الاقتصاد العالمي وإرهاب المجتمع الدولي ومحاصرته وابتزازه.
وشدد على أن تأمين الممرات البحرية ليس مسؤولية الدول المطلة عليها وحدها، بل مسؤولية دولية مشتركة، داعياً مجلس الأمن إلى اتخاذ موقف حازم تجاه هذه التهديدات.
وفي هذا السياق، أشار إلى إطلاق المملكة تحالفاً متعدد الجنسيات للدفاع البحري، بهدف تعزيز أمن الملاحة وحماية الممرات المائية في البحر الأحمر وباب المندب وخليج عدن، وضمان انسيابية حركة التجارة العالمية وسلاسل التوريد.
هجمات استهدفت مدناً سعودية
وتطرق مندوب المملكة إلى الهجمات الحوثية التي استهدفت بنى تحتية مدنية واقتصادية في أبها وخميس مشيط والطائف، وما نتج عنها من سقوط وإصابة مدنيين وأضرار في الممتلكات السكنية.
وجدد التأكيد على تمسك المملكة بأمنها الوطني، واحتفاظها بحق اتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة لحماية أراضيها ومواطنيها، وفق ميثاق الأمم المتحدة والقانون الدولي.
دعم سعودي لمسار الحل السياسي
وفي الشأن اليمني، أكد الواصل أن المملكة عملت منذ اندلاع الأزمة على دعم جهود التهدئة والحلول السياسية، وساندت بالتعاون مع الأمم المتحدة والمبعوث الأممي هانز غروندبرغ والدول المجاورة المبادرات الهادفة إلى تحقيق السلام والاستقرار.
وأشار إلى رفض مليشيا الحوثي المبادرات والتسويات التي من شأنها تخفيف معاناة اليمنيين ودعم الاستقرار، مؤكداً استمرارها في عرقلة جهود السلام.
وجدد دعم المملكة لوحدة اليمن وسيادته واستقلاله وسلامة أراضيه، واستعدادها لمواصلة مساندة جهود الأمم المتحدة والمبعوث الأممي للوصول إلى تسوية سياسية شاملة ومستدامة تلبي تطلعات الشعب اليمني وتحافظ على أمن المنطقة وحرية الملاحة الدولية.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has confirmed that the threats posed by the Houthi militia have exceeded the borders of Yemen, affecting the security of international navigation and global trade, calling on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance against practices that threaten the security of the region and maritime corridors.
The Kingdom's representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, stated during a Security Council session on Yemen that the current developments require responsible action from the international community, amid the ongoing Houthi escalation and its repercussions extending to the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
He pointed out that targeting ships and maritime corridors does not represent a threat to a specific country, but rather affects one of the most important international waterways, with implications for trade movement and the global economy.
"Militarization of Straits" is a Threat Beyond the Region
Al-Wasil warned of the dangers of turning international straits into tools for pressure and extortion, pointing to the Houthis' direction and those behind them towards the "militarization of international straits" and using them to pressure the global economy, terrorize the international community, and besiege and extort it.
He emphasized that securing maritime corridors is not solely the responsibility of the countries bordering them, but a shared international responsibility, calling on the Security Council to take a firm stance against these threats.
In this context, he referred to the Kingdom's launch of a multinational maritime defense coalition aimed at enhancing navigation security and protecting waterways in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden, ensuring the smooth flow of global trade and supply chains.
Attacks Targeting Saudi Cities
The Kingdom's representative addressed the Houthi attacks that targeted civilian and economic infrastructure in Abha, Khamis Mushait, and Taif, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to residential properties.
He reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to its national security and its right to take necessary measures to protect its territory and citizens, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law.
Saudi Support for the Political Solution Path
Regarding the Yemeni issue, Al-Wasil confirmed that the Kingdom has worked since the outbreak of the crisis to support efforts for de-escalation and political solutions, collaborating with the United Nations, the UN envoy Hans Grundberg, and neighboring countries on initiatives aimed at achieving peace and stability.
He noted the Houthi militia's rejection of initiatives and settlements that would alleviate the suffering of Yemenis and support stability, affirming their continued obstruction of peace efforts.
The Kingdom renewed its support for the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen, and its readiness to continue supporting the efforts of the United Nations and the UN envoy to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people and maintains the security of the region and freedom of international navigation.
