كشف الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي أن مفاوضين من كييف وموسكو ناقشا إمكانية إجراء لقاء مباشر بينه والرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين بهدف إنهاء الحرب المستعرة منذ أكثر من 3 سنوات.
وقال الرئيس الأوكراني، اليوم (الجمعة)، لصحفيين: «نحتاج إلى إنهاء الحرب الذي يبدأ على الأرجح بلقاء بين القادة». وأضاف: «خلال مباحثات معنا بدأوا بمناقشة الأمر. هذا بحد ذاته تقدم باتجاه صيغة ما للقاء محتمل».
وجعلت أوكرانيا من هذا اللقاء الذي ترغب في مشاركة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب فيه، هدفا للمفاوضات الرامية إلى إنهاء الحرب المستمرة منذ أكثر من ثلاث سنوات.
وسبق أن أعلن الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين، أنه لن يكون مستعدا لهذه القمة إلا في المرحلة الأخيرة من المفاوضات، والتي لم تسفر حتى الآن عن أي نتيجة.
من جهته، استبعد الكرملين عقد لقاء بين بوتين وزيلينسكي خلال 30 يوما. وقال المتحدث باسم الرئاسة الروسية دميتري بيسكوف للصحفيين، إن من غير المرجح عقد مثل هذا الاجتماع بحلول نهاية أغسطس مثلما اقترحت أوكرانيا. وجدد بيسكوف وصفه لمواقف الجانبين التفاوضية بأنها «متعارضة تماما».
واقترح رئيس الوفد الأوكراني رستم أومروف خلال الجولة الثالثة من المفاوضات في إسطنبول الأربعاء، عقد الاجتماع بحلول نهاية أغسطس القادم، بما يتوافق مع مهلة 50 يوما حددها ترمب لبوتين لحل النزاع أو مواجهة عقوبات صارمة. ولا يبدو الجانب الروسي متفائلا بإمكانية عقد اجتماع وشيك، متحدثا عن تباين كبير في المواقف.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء الروسية (تاس) عن رئيس الوفد الروسي فلاديمير ميدينسكي قوله: «يجب التحضير للاجتماع بعناية، حينها فقط سيكون ذا معنى».

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that negotiators from Kyiv and Moscow discussed the possibility of a direct meeting between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin aimed at ending the war that has been raging for more than 3 years.
On Friday, the Ukrainian president told reporters: "We need to end the war, which will likely begin with a meeting between the leaders." He added: "During discussions with us, they started to talk about it. This in itself is progress towards some form of a potential meeting."
Ukraine has made this meeting, in which it hopes U.S. President Donald Trump will participate, a goal of the negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing war for more than three years.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously announced that he would only be ready for this summit in the final stage of negotiations, which have so far yielded no results.
For its part, the Kremlin excluded the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky within 30 days. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that it is unlikely such a meeting will take place by the end of August, as Ukraine suggested. Peskov reiterated his description of the negotiating positions of both sides as "completely opposed."
Ukrainian delegation head Rustem Umerov proposed during the third round of negotiations in Istanbul on Wednesday to hold the meeting by the end of next August, in line with the 50-day deadline set by Trump for Putin to resolve the conflict or face severe sanctions. The Russian side does not seem optimistic about the possibility of a forthcoming meeting, citing significant differences in positions.
The Russian news agency TASS quoted Russian delegation head Vladimir Medinsky as saying: "The meeting must be prepared carefully; only then will it be meaningful."
