نفت منظمة الصحة العالمية، اليوم، اتهامات إدارة دونالد ترمب بأن التعديلات الأخيرة على اللوائح الصحية الدولية تنتهك السيادة الأمريكية.
وقال المدير العام للمنظمة تيدروس أدهانوم غيبرييسوس في مؤتمر صحفي: «مهمتنا إصدار توصيات قائمة على البيانات لمساعدة الدول، لكن تطبيقها يبقى ضمن صلاحيات كل دولة وفق أنظمتها الوطنية».
وردّاً على تصريحات وزيرَي الصحة والخارجية الأمريكيَين في 18 يوليو التي تحدثت عن تقويض للسيادة، أوضح تيدروس أن التعديلات نوقشت واعتُمدت من الدول الأعضاء، ولا تملك المنظمة سلطة فرض إجراءات مثل الإغلاق أو التلقيح الإجباري.
من جهته، أشار كبير الخبراء القانونيين في المنظمة ستيف سالومون، إلى أن مهلة رفض التعديلات انتهت في 19 يوليو، وأن عدداً قليلاً فقط من الدول قدّم اعتراضه، ما يعني أن التعديلات ستسري على الغالبية العظمى من الدول الـ196 الأطراف في الاتفاق.
The World Health Organization denied today the accusations from the administration of Donald Trump that the recent amendments to the International Health Regulations violate American sovereignty.
The Director-General of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated at a press conference: "Our mission is to issue data-driven recommendations to assist countries, but their implementation remains within the authority of each country according to its national systems."
In response to the statements made by the U.S. Secretaries of Health and State on July 18 regarding undermining sovereignty, Tedros clarified that the amendments were discussed and adopted by member states, and the organization does not have the authority to impose measures such as lockdowns or mandatory vaccinations.
For his part, the organization's chief legal expert, Steve Solomon, pointed out that the deadline for rejecting the amendments ended on July 19, and only a few countries submitted their objections, which means that the amendments will apply to the vast majority of the 196 countries that are parties to the agreement.
